Bob Dylan in the NYT today, in a piece where artists in their 80s were asked to describe the best and worst parts of being that age, and whether they had advice for the president on his reaching the milestone. (Dylan apparently passed on the final question, not surprisingly.)

Not saying it definitely would have happened, but the racism, sexism, stupid humiliation rituals and other elements that made pro wrestling so repellent to many people could have been weeded out decades earlier if not for Vince.
One of the biggest pieces of WWE revisionist history is that wrestling NEEDED Vince McMahon and his monopoly. Bottom line, wrestling was a thriving business before he even thought about coming into the picture. If absolutely ANYTHING, he made it worse.

All of these rich people poured in -- paying $10K to $150K a ticket. And then they sat there with their pinkies sticking out while the refs were committing FELONIES against our team! We were in foul trouble TWO MINUTES into the fourth quarter??? GET OUTTA HERE!! The refs must have been bought and paid for by the league! 🔴 The son of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza held in Israeli detention since December 2024, warned Monday that his father’s life is in danger after being transferred to solitary confinement in Nafha Prison — a move the family says came in direct retaliation for filing a legal appeal with the Israeli Supreme Court.
The family says Abu Safiya is being held in a two-meter cell with no food, water, medicine, or access to his lawyer.
“How can a person be punished for asking why he is being detained?” his son asked in an urgent public appeal. “Every hour that passes without action may bring more suffering and pain.”
