if im being completely honest Wemby is already the best player in the league. he’s anchoring a -8 defense with maybe two other good defenders enabling all these multi guard lineups to thrive off his gravity. at this point his production almost doesnt even matter it’s just a bonus

So here's my thing. He blocks insane shots and no one wants to go to the rim. He's incredible.
He's STILL so raw and learning so much. He's STILL able to be bumped off his spot. He's not a great switch defender yet. When teams have tried him on the perimeter, the results are actually pretty mixed.
We're also in a league that is primarily perimeter/jumpshot oriented.
No one shapes the game like Wembanyama defensively. No one. Maybe EVER, at least not in the modern era. But absolutely everything Ausar does is pretty much perfect in his assignment.

idk how many ppl realize but Wemby kinda fundamentally breaks basketball man, and its not even fair
he could legit go 0/10 from the field, but because of his defense, he's legit still a VERY player on the court
and then the fact that at his best (so far) he's giving you stretches of
26-13-4-1-4 / 35 % from 3 on 5 attempts and less than 20 shots per game
he is legit game breaking. ppl don't know how to objectively analyze what they're watching, like in terms of VALUE and IMPACT i dont think ppl understand what they are watching a player provide like him
