All blacks in the service of the King were free, putting the Army at the forefront of abolition. This meant that the 10,000 men of the West India Regiments were undeniably free, 27 years before the slave population of the West Indies as a whole was freed.

Ironically it was Henry Dundas who played a major role in eliminating slavery in Scotland.
In Toronto they’re erasing his name from streets and squares. They’re renaming them to honour the Aken tribe of Ghana who coincidentally were major slave traders.
We are rewriting history as we speak. I will remember the truth.
Henry Dundas was responsible for introducing the 1784 Bill to restore Jacobite estates forfeited after the 1745 rebellion. Also the repeal of The Act of Proscription on 1 July 1782, a date that was celebrated in the Highlands as a return to cultural freedom.
Reform UK has announced a policy to stop issuing visas to citizens of countries that demand reparations from the United Kingdom for its historical role in the transatlantic slave trade.
Plaza Sankofa, el parque Berrio de Toronto, nombre de Gana, como reivindicación a la lucha antiracista. Antes se llamaba Dundas Square, Henry Dundas retrazó los logros de la abolición del comercio de esclavos en Norte América.
In Edinburgh, they aren’t tearing down things with Henry Dundas’ name on it, instead they are looking to add nuance to history. Nuance I might disagree with but nuance nonetheless.
“Henry Dundas was an ardent abolitionist. Before entering politics, lawyer Dundas defended a Black man who had been purchased as a slave in Jamaica and then taken to Scotland. Dundas pleaded the case on appeal and won over a majority of Scottish lords, some of them slaveowners themselves,” writes @jerryamernic on Toronto City Council’s decision to change Yonge-Dundas Square to Sankofa Square.

Thank you @fightbacklibby for having me on to discuss the report on Chris Moise’s “discreditable conduct.” Now that Comrade Fletcher amended the report to remove that part, should we just abolish the $750,000 per year “Office of the Integrity Commissioner”?
Did you forget the idiot who had personal vendetta against Toronto's history and managed to change the historic name of Dundas Square? He not only needs to be turfed, his renaming of the square has to be rescinded.
He’s said it before and he’s saying it again, activists make the worse politicians. We’re looking at you Councillor Moise.
Thank you @BenMulroneyShow 👏 👏
