A lot of the original bloggers of 10-15 years ago have stopped writing new posts
Most of their blogs have a final post like this (this one by
@tynan) and I know this feeling of guilt of not writing on your blog anymore
I think it's because the zeitgeist massively changed from blogs on your site to an account on social media, I'd say this happened around 2020
I think the best choice I made is to just redirect my blog to here and consider every tweet here as a blog post
A blog post carries a lot of pressure, back then it would take me 6 hours to finish one
There's barely any pressure writing a tweet, it takes me seconds to a few minutes, and it doesn't matter if it goes nowhere
Even more it gets me 1000x more people seeing it than I'd get on my blog
And if I'd want to I can still spend 6 hours to write a long form blog post as a tweet
I get the idea of owning your own platform/site but if you want you could actually just sync your tweets to a real blog too as backup
So for any of the old bloggers of 2010, come back and start writing but on here, there's no length limit on tweets anymore
