I proposed this solution 20 years ago, knowing those in power would block it, they were profiting from the crisis. For two decades, I've watched entire generations priced out of basic shelter. Housing isn't a luxury or investment vehicle—it's a fundamental human need. Every person deserves a roof over their head, a place to call home, to raise their children. I knew my only hope was time. That one day, the electorate would be filled with people for whom skyrocketing house prices weren't a windfall but a barrier to the most basic human dignity. Young people shouldn't have to choose between having a home and having a future. Parents shouldn't work multiple jobs just to afford rent while landlords get rich. Support me in my campaign to make housing affordable for all; I have shared all data in the comments. Every person deserves the dignity of a home. It's time to make that a reality again. #HousingIsAHumanRight #ShelterForAll #HousingCrisis #GenerationalJustice

I see the Left is doing their rounds of “tax the rich to fund x” so let me explain why that backfires A) FS is trying to persuade by only asking for 2%. That’s enough for raising the money she thinks she needs but not enough to make any dent on inequality. So what is the point?
“There is always money for war, but not for the poor” Economist and activist Faiza Shaheen says there are “better ideas” to save money instead of cutting the welfare budget, such as taxing the “ultra rich” #bbcqt

Michael O'Brien spent 11 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. The Govt then disgracefully charged him £37,000 for 'Bed & Board' for the time he served. The new Labour Govt have now confirmed they won't be reimbursing Mr O'Brien or others in his position.

A thread with a few eve-of-poll thoughts about the politics of this British general election and where it is likely to leave those of us committed to transformative political-economic change both ideologically and as a practical necessity. 🧵👇🏼

There is a deep social, economic and climate crisis in Britain, and do-nothing Starmerism is an entirely inadequate, even counterproductive response. We don’t need continuity Tory policies with a red rosette, we need fundamental change to Britain’s economic model.

Well done to all those who thought that Lexit was red-brown racism but now happily support this awful guy. We could have had industrial strategy, public ownership, state aid for the GND, and a humane migration policy. Instead it's red rosette Faragism with the City left intact.
🚨 NEW: Starmer claims that Brexit "was a vote for lower immigration". He went on to attack the Tories for choosing "higher migration" instead of raising skills. (Via The National)

For those who don't fully understand what is up with the NHS, here is a thread for you that might help. I'm a consultant physician working as a doctor in the NHS in Yorkshire and Wales for 32 years now. I have experienced the NHS at its best (2008) and its worst (2022).
