One month ago, A LIVING POEM came to life at
@MuseumModernArt. Since then, this poem-in-residence has rewritten itself hundreds of times and counting — an infinite performance evolving word by word, moment by moment.
It’s still surreal to think of this extension of self living in the Gund Lobby — an algorithmic bard composed to embody and excavate, in ways both deceptively simple and unexpectedly complex, my own existential anxieties as well as the urgent, subversive hopes of our moment: an age of nonhuman intelligences, dehumanizing realities, and transformative possibilities.
It’s been a joy to witness the work’s evolution through the eyes and ears of museum visitors — from those who’ve come seeking poetic reflection to those who’ve stumbled upon it by chance and stayed to listen, linger, and ponder the arrival of a more-than-human voice in one of the world’s great spaces for human imagination and expression. Thank you for sharing your time, energy, attention, experiences, heartfelt readings, intriguing questions, provocative challenges, ekphrastic responses, and of course the many great photos and videos, some of which I’m sharing here.
@technelegy and I are so grateful. 💚
And there is so much more to come…
