Russia's war against
#Ukraine started in 2014 when the pro-Russian regime of President Yanukovych ordered the deaths of protesters at Maidan.
In 2013, Yanukovych, the former President of Ukraine, abandoned the pro-European course and turned toward
#Russia. Such actions outraged
#Ukrainians, leading to peaceful protests across the country in November.
For over three months, the protests continued. Then, on February 18, Yanukovych’s regime began the massacre of protesters. On this very day, eleven years ago, one of the bloodiest pages of modern
#Ukrainian history began.
On February 18, Ukraine suffered its first losses — 17 protesters were killed. Later, an investigation revealed that it was a special operation orchestrated by Russia. Its goal was to suppress the Revolution of Dignity and turn Ukraine into a puppet state of Russia.
That plan failed — Ukrainians demonstrated they did not see their collective future with Russia. They upheld democratic values, their
#European future, and their freedom.
Almost a decade has passed, and Ukraine is still fighting against Russia. However, today,
#Putin is blackmailing the entire world, gradually turning his plans into actions.
