Forgot one amusing tidbit:
Because CA CCW permits are valid statewide, people visiting Contra Costa County from elsewhere can carry with their red dots, lights, and 1911s/2011s. I can carry there with such guns just fine with my LA-issued permit.
It is only Contra Costa County residents affected by these dumb rules.
The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department has implemented rules that do not let those with a carry permit equip their firearms with red dot sights and flashlights. They also do not allow any single-action firearms, which encompasses the very popular 1911 and 2011 platforms.
Even in California, these rules are a huge outlier. And they are unconstitutional.
