The culture of parent blaming. There’s more but keeping nice and short. But you get the picture. Blame parent. But take no responsibility whatsoever for your own inability to support a disabled person. What a load of f bolox. 😔😔😔😔

Another family contacted me.... I had to say "never forget the Court can conduct closed proceedings. You can be excluded by judge's orders from hearings about your relative. They may try to conceal from you that hearings are happening." Awful but true. openjusticecourtofprotection…

The Government has promised to end the inappropriate detention of people with a learning disability and autistic people through changes to the Mental Health Act. But these changes will only come in when the right community support, social care and housing are in place.

Yet again people of power and in power. Who have the power to protect autistic and Learning disability, instead the Supreme Court does the complete opposite. They take us all the way back decades really. It’s incredibly sad that once again people with autism and learning disability are seen as second Class citizens @UKSupremeCourt Years of parent’s advocates autistic and learning disability organisations and charities alike campaigning and fighting for better care for our children/adults, for some of us who had children stolen and locked up in mental institutions that worked so hard to give our children a voice to give them dignity and safeguarding their lives giving and treating them with humanity we have been trying so hard to give them love compassion happiness and a right to human rights yet the Supreme Court sort of destroys that just in a court day. The deprivation of Liberty for anyone who needs will be now effectively damaged and a will leave people unprotected. mencap.org.uk/press-release/…

Today marks 15 years of the winterbourne view horrific scandal of abuse of autistic Ld people. A few months after that little did I know my son was going to be a victim not a statistic a victim as he was sectioned and put at the hell hole if St Andrews. Where my poor son endured the most disgusting horrific abuse. 14 hours a day on a straight jacket. 8 different antipsychotics drugs at 7,800 mil a day, plus a depo injection to completely paralyse him. 6 months in he had not had a wash, they had not washed my son for 6 months, I visited and he begged me for a shower and i couldn’t give him a shower,They wouldn’t allow me. So I showered my son under tree with a watering can, to remove he’s underwater I hat to cut and shave him with a nail scissors and lady shaver. He had broken bones arm hand foot fingers that went untreated. He had a mini stroke from the drugs and they did nothing. So I did the best I could I started a petition and thanks to @rioferdy5 il always be grateful he helped me get 50k signatures,Rio was the first person to call it a national scandal little did he or me knew that the scandal was unraveling with 6thousand people with autism and learning disability in mental health hospitals the so called ATUs. The scandal did not stop there it’s still ongoing n @mencap_charity @BBCBreakfast @BBCNews @itvnews @ITV @channel5_tv @Channel4News I went on all these talking about my son Stephen and the thousands of others. I also did a campaign national march. @StrippedOf My local gazette also followed my story and covered the march @islingtongztte thank you to @mrdanwalker and the lovely @JayneMcCubbinTV @Jayneknight15 my hero she is. She helped me as did Mencap #Danscorer always greatly appreciative they all in so many ways save me and my son. šŸ™ā¤ļølet’s keep fighting for those who can’t fight for themselves.

We expect more from senior political leaders. The current spat between President Trump and Governor Newsom, with both using slurs about intellectual ability, is unacceptable and deeply insulting to people with a learning disability. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gj…

3/3 We know many people with a learning disability want to work, but face barriers to getting paid jobs. Supported internships, Access to Work, support from the benefit system, inclusive employers and reasonable adjustments can all play a vital role in changing that.
