Overwhelming Innovation: An
#AI tool, previously considered too powerful for public release by the company, is now available to the public. The public launch by Anthropic:
@claudeai Fable 5, a version of Claude Mythos.
Significant concerns have been raised by leaders across government, finance, and the
#tech sectors about the innovation’s robust capabilities, which have surpassed those of any current and publicly available AI models.
@BBCWorld News has reported that
#Anthropic recently said that
#Fable5 is released with safeguards and user limitations in place, though it said: "releasing a model this capable comes with risks".
@BBCBreaking also reported that
@AnthropicAI initially released it to a shortlist of selected
#cybersecurity firms for a preview due to observations of the tool's highly sophisticated capabilities, which pose a significant risk of compromising computer systems. Companies currently using
#Mythos have informed Anthropic that they have discovered over 10,000 critical security flaws in their systems (BBC, 2026).
Last week,
@Reuters and
@JournalRecord reported that Anthropic is urging certain
#technology labs to consider coordinating a pause in development, warning that continual, rapid advances could soon enable AI systems to self-improve faster than society can manage. Couple that with the government’s 30-day pre-public launch review requirement, which largely stemmed from financial-sector concerns, and it’s easy to see the underlying suspicions.
Although on the surface this may seem unsettling, it is reassuring that this topic is out in the open and being scrutinized by both the public and private sectors. Often, this information wouldn’t see the light of day due to “Speed to Market” and “first-mover advantage” tactics, which are usually exercised under the guise of national pride and competitive spirit.
Debate, for clarity purposes, is essential at this stage for both AI and the public, mainly because it can cause confusion and unclear perceptions. In my view, coexistence should focus on creating a healthy “checks and balances” partnership with populations that are not tech-savvy, which, through trust, would help this innovation thrive and succeed further alongside ambitious business action plans.
