#Sydney has sweat through the warmest first 8 days of summer in 45 years based of the mean temperature (average of mins and maxs). For #Parramatta, it's been the warmest on record (data to 1965), although I substituted missing 1979 temps with data from Bankstown.

Why is it so windy and why does #Melbourne tend to get big wind storms in early spring? Outside of the tropics, the main fuel source for storms is a strong temperature gradient. The ocean is a slow beast. Temperature-wise, the ocean thinks it's still the middle of winter.
