#OTD in 1965, my father delivered a commencement address at Oberlin College and told graduates that the greatest danger was not injustice itself, but sleeping through the revolution around you. He urged them to never be silent onlookers. To every graduate stepping into the world this season, including my daughter: remain awake. Your generation's revolution is waiting for you.

This is outrageous and unacceptable. Speaker Johnson makes clear that the GOP is planning to gut Medicaid and Social Security — programs millions of Americans depend on. 73 million seniors, disabled Americans & families are watching. We must stand up for them. This is a fight to protect the benefits seniors have earned through a lifetime of hard work.

June 11, 1963. My late sister in law - Vivian Malone - with the help of the Department of Justice and President Kennedy integrated the University of Alabama. The Governor of the state, George Wallace, stood in the school house door to prevent her from enrolling. The use of State power to trample on the rights of black Americans. In 2026 this resurgent movement by southern Republicans is both historically familiar and alarming. Vivian fought.

Karmelo Anthony, a Black teenager, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after being convicted by a jury with no Black jurors. Whatever one believes about the verdict itself, we cannot ignore the larger truth that many Americans are wrestling with: justice is still being administered through a system with a long history of racial disparity in sentencing and punishment. This requires more than reaction. It requires moral honesty about who is deemed dangerous, whose pain is centered, and how differently accountability has often been applied in America. If we want justice worthy of its name, it cannot be shaped by race. #KarmeloAnthony

#OTD in 1963, Gov. George Wallace tried to stop Vivian Malone and James A. Hood from registering at the University of Alabama. The National Guard had to be called to open the door. 63 years later, the doors have changed, but the obstruction hasn't. Voter purges, redrawn maps, restricted access. The fight to block Black Americans from full participation in democracy never stopped. Every barrier they build, we will walk through.

"This is a highly corrupt court...they're saying that you can use race as a pretext for law enforcement stops...it's okay to racially profile...going to allow states like Alabama to roll back voting protections that have really only been in place for one generation." @SenBooker

Scott Pelley gave an impassioned speech a year ago that’s worth watching today. Kudos to him and other 60 Minutes correspondents and staff for defending the media and our democracy.

Watch this absolutely insane back-and-forth in which @SecMullinDHS tells @ChrisMurphyCT that he has no obligation to follow court orders and defends ICE's noncompliance with "more court orders than some agencies violated in their entire history."

One day we will look back on the murder of “60 Minutes” as one of the travesties of Trump’s reign. In the meantime, thank you Scott Pelley for telling the truth. Thank you, former “60 Minutes” producers, correspondents, and staff, for telling the truth. And now, we should boycott CBS. ms.now/news/scott-pelley-cbs…

When the Supreme Court repeatedly attacks voting rights and bends over backwards to a wannabe king, we should call it what it is. This Court is racist, corrupt….and the American people deserve better.

🚨 The Supreme Court just let Alabama Republicans change the rules and use a racist congressional map for this year’s midterm elections. It’s time for us to organize, mobilize, and vote like we’ve never voted before!

BREAKING: The Trump administration is reportedly removing January 6 indictments and conviction records from government websites in what critics are calling an open attempt to erase the public record of the Capitol attack. And the most remarkable part? They are not even hiding it. This is no longer just about pardons or political messaging. This is about historical memory itself. Government databases are supposed to preserve official records regardless of who is in power. So when an administration starts deleting documentation connected to one of the most consequential political events in modern American history, people are going to see it as something much bigger than routine website maintenance. They are going to see it as an attempt to rewrite the historical archive in real time.

President Trump's nearly $1.8 billion slush fund is unconstitutional, illegal and a fraud on the court—and the country. Everyone—Democrats, Republicans, Independents—must reject this total usurpation of the other branches and flat-out violation of our nation's laws.

The American people know the truth: Trump’s policies are making them sicker and poorer. Families can't keep up with the cost of groceries, healthcare, and gas because of Trump’s chaos, cruelty and corruption. Together we must fight to redeem the American dream for working families. op: @fightforprogress
