ALT POLICE POWERS IN DESIGNATED AREAS. Police will have powers to direct a person to leave the area if they refuse a police request to remove a face covering and police believe the person is wearing the face covering to conceal their identity or protect against the effects of crowd control substances. Police will also have powers to direct a person to leave the area if they believe the person intends to engage in affray or violent disorder.

ALT IF YOU ARE STOPPED OR SEARCHED. Police can ask for your name and address if a strip search has been authorised, or if you have committed or are about to commit an offence. You do not have to carry ID, but police may detain or arrest you until they can verify your identity. You can answer 'no comment' to all other questions. Police must use the least invasive search practicable as quickly as possible and in a way that provides you with reasonable privacy. Request the police officer's name and place of duty, and the reason for the stop and search; if they are not uniform, ask for proof of identification. Seized items not required as evidence must be returned to you.
