“Having a place like Europe, which sometimes is too slow, for sure, and needs to be reformed, for sure, but which is predictable, loyal, and where you know that the rule of the game is the rule of law, is a good place”

Welcome, Alex!
USG @CFSaundersUN and @UNPeacekeeping are working with the Tanzanian People's Defence Force to prevent sexual exploitation and abuse in UN peacekeeping operations.
On a recent mission, the TPDF are using music and dance to spread an important message: There is #NoExcuse for SEA.
Earlier this week, USG @CFSaundersUN met with Tanzanian Defence Minister, Dr. Stergomena Tax, to commend her on the progress made within the Tanzanian Defence Forces on PSEA and discuss steps to further strengthen prevention and accountability. #HonoringOurValues@UnitedNationsTZ
In Mozambique, efforts at both national and local levels are driving progress to prevent sexual exploitation and abuse. During a visit to #CaboDelgado, @CFSaundersUN reaffirmed UN support for a victim-centred approach, where strong leadership drives real change. #UNTogether (1/5)
This week, I returned to a country where I served as a young ‘cooperante’ with Save The Children Fund - Moçambique - to advocate with government, UN agencies, NGOs, civil society and communities for increased attention to Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA). 1/4
The UN was born out of the ashes of the Second World War.
Eight decades later, you can draw a direct line between the creation of the @UN & the prevention of a third world war.
Eight decades later, the UN remains the essential meeting ground to advance peace & human rights.
Happy Valentine's Day! ❤️❤️❤️
Today and every day, peacekeepers work towards a more sustainable future for all. On this #ValentinesDay, while away from their loved ones, they share heartfelt messages with their families and partners, reminding us that #PeaceBegins with love.
“The father of my child left when I was pregnant... I have no news of him.”
Member States must step up DNA testing & cooperation with host jurisdictions to bring justice & support to children fathered by @UN peacekeepers.
#HonouringOurValues#VictimsRightsFirst
#HonouringOurValues means preventing sexual exploitation & abuse by @UN personnel.
Resources and attention must be diverted to high-risk missions & troop/police contributing countries.
#PeaceBegins@Lacroix_UN
Since 2006, > 700 paternity & child support claims implicating peace ops. personnel have been recorded.
Behind every claim, there is a child waiting to know their father. We need Member States to step in.

As conflicts grow more complex and armed groups increasingly weaponize low-cost technologies like improvised explosive devices and drones, @UN peacekeeping missions need greater political support and resources to carry out their duties safely: ow.ly/lsJX50TjtYr
To ensure that the United Nations’ peacekeeping efforts can succeed in resolving conflicts, not just doing damage control, UN member states must provide stronger and more unified support to these missions, writes @Lacroix_UN.
