Have you seen this? The @SantaMonicaCity installing concrete separation barriers for protected bike lanes. They call it a “Concrete 3D Printer” but it’s actually old tech used for decades in building highways. 4-5 blocks of separation built in a day!

Our cities do not need driverless cars. They desperately need more carless drivers! (#Gocab by @VanRaamBikes: gocabbike.com/en-gb/gocab-en…)

READ: If you care about how we’ve been “planning” our cities and suburbs, and how we need to plan them much better, this is REALLY important. I’ve been saying this in various ways for years now, but I haven’t put it in writing very much. Time to start doing that. Please share.

i swear, planners and politicians are so bad at economics. impact fees will burden density from being built, and density is a net positive on city revenue. if we wanted to be real on impact fees, we'd levy the tax on low density and nothing else (@UrbanThree)

In many ways, cars are like water, which—if given the opportunity—will flow through or collect in every square inch of your city’s public realm. But much like water, if your planners seal the cracks and increase the temperature, they will eventually evaporate from your streets.

What do 37,000 km. of separated cycle lanes get the Dutch? 74 minutes of cycling per week per capita; preventing 6,500 premature deaths and €19 billion in healthcare costs each year. Ask not whether your country can afford to invest in cycling—ask whether it can afford not to.
