It’s another great #play from local writer Doris Allimandi coming up

I’m only on episode 2 of #malpractice but total hats off to the creators producers directors actors for such a sharp depiction of issues particularly in #MentalHealth but also the tension across the system! Spot on & I hope you get an award for it! 👌#itv
Privilege to have nominated the winner of @PORawards inspiration award Sinead Gibson, a single mum who lost her only 26 year old daughter Diva to suicide in Covid and channeled her pain and experience into improving #mentalhealth services & creating the every little thing festival to raise #awareness of mental health issues and support for the last 2 years, on sept 10th (Divas bday and world suicide prevention day) in Reading. You totally deserve it Sinead as you are an inspiration to me and many others. 🙌🏻 #rdg
Congratulations to BiBS charity for winning @PORawards charity of the year for the money raised for special care babies in @RBNHSFT very well deserved for the hard work that goes into this kind of work, well done and I know the Trust are very grateful for all your support. ❤️
What a lovely day, despite weather forecast threatening rain, it was only a drizzle in the end leaving us to enjoy the next section of the #capitalring followed by a great experience of #moonwalk at King’s Cross @_LightRoomLDN 🙌🏻
Another great start to today with a couple of different types of sessions talking about the challenges of workforce at the @IHEEM conference in Manchester. Good to see more on bringing estates professionals into management training schemes and the session on voice recognition to automate tasks was mind blowing from @Microsoft and now understanding policy context for what we can do now & planning for the future to digitalise our estate & improve things like net zero, patient outcomes and experience.
Hearing about the massive change being brought about for suppliers through the #procurementact from the chief commercial officer for the #nhs@jacquirock1 at the @IHEEM conference in Manchester & she is advicing having a look at the videos and guides to help understand them gov.uk/government/publicatio…
Great to be attending @IHEEM conference in Manchester and a fantastic session highlighting examples of collaboration with local authorities- sleaford street and Dartmouth health centre. There are lots of opportunities & willing partners of our own locally so looking forward to working with #rdg#wokingham#westberkshire councils together with other health partners to improve access to more local health & wellbeing facilities in line with our Clinical Services Strategy.
What an amazing powerful day at the #everylittlethingfestival yesterday organised by Sinead Gibson bbc.com/news/articles/c89lp0… at the @novotelreading where I was privileged to be in some great company such as @Consultancy_HS & an array of other speakers, performers & people with lived experience of #mentalhealth#trauma So many solutions in the rooms and support for each other and good discussions on what trauma informed environments need to think about ❤️👊#rdg
Great to hear from @CliveJonesMP at the @TValleyChamber Windsor Debates today talking about the huge experience in business he brings to the table and his plea to work more in partnership to accelerate growth in the Thames Valley area. As Lib Dem spokesman on trade he was keen to stimulate discussion on building right skills we need from pre-school right through life. Fantastic to have such resource & passion on areas that will impact on prevention health and well-being as one of our @RBNHSFT governors for the next 3 years.
At the @TValleyChamber Windsor Debates today with an exciting & packed agenda on business & politics & a great start talking about our trade challenges and opportunities & hearing from @YuanfenYang MP, bringing her experience in economics to the table in helping us as a region grow through developing strong partnerships - which of course the Chamber are great at! Yuan referenced the work the chamber are doing with business & NHS to support building a new @RBNHSFT hospital and increasing investment in life sciences in the area. #business#trade#politics#nhs#newhospitalprogramme#investment#innovation#growth
Our CEO @CEO_RBFT was on the final panel today @TheKingsFund which focussed on what needs to be done in next 5-10 years to move care closer to home.
The @RBNHSFT puts this at heart of our clinical services strategy and is actively driving a number of initiatives to make this a reality locally.
Some examples of things we are doing
- 90% of ambulatory /diagnostics within 5 miles of hospital with services delivered across 7 sites
- Strong neighbourhood working through Meet PEET patient engagement and experience team
- Strong vaccination services to support prevention
Underpinning this is partnership.
Steve also talked about having shared understanding on definition of care closer to home across the system but also what it means for patients and discussed the role of the acute trust in prevention. For 185 years the trust has provided care for local community & as anchor institution we have responsibility for health & wellbeing of local population.
Population health management has also demonstrated time & again to impact on prevention & early targeted intervention but requires being built from bottom up & at every level, which takes time and means sharing risk.
Secondary care needs to engage with ‘neighbourhoods’ - what’s around people in localities is what will make difference to their health & wellbeing.

In estates room there was interesting discussion about how infrastructure can support moving the dial on care closer to home - ICS’s infrastructure strategies have just been submitted to Nhse based on core flex and tail approach. Should be a catalyst.
Difference between integration and co-location can hinder or help development
Innovations mentioned were
◦In London an ICS is pooling budgets
◦We could be Key tenants on high street
◦Birmingham use of redundant estate and collaboration with private and charity sector to support apprenticeships and capital development
◦Community integration programme in London
A bit of discussion on opportunities to work with private sector but also how current rules prohibit some innovation particularly in Primary Care. People were encouraged by Simon Corben to make Nhse aware where this is happening so they can look to support any unblocking needed.
