Ludwig @MIT’s @AmyWisdom8 sat down with us at the Center’s 2025 retreat to discusses her research on coaxing the immune system to target a deadly brain cancer and how collaboration has been essential to her studies. Check it out here: youtu.be/EyW9Fz4gG9c

Excellent educational section on oropharynx cancer by @morayouknow. He’s so committed that he even volunteered for a mirror exam by @AmyWisdom8. @HarvardRadOnc @MGHCancerCenter
Important takeaways to strengthen physician-scientists in the face of flat/declining #NIH funding:
✅Rethink R01-focused culture
✅Normalize funding gaps & provide bridge resources
✅Support women & URMs
✅Flexible tenure metrics
Kudos to #radonc leaders who are paving the way
Physician-scientists are a dying breed going from 4.7% in '80s to ~1.5% today. Multiple factors contribute including flat/declining #NIH funding. Translational research is critical for advancing clinical care.
