This is the story of my family, and of my Mom -- who we lost to cancer when I was 13 years old. Her courage and resilience inspires me to be brave, and to fight for Florida families. Her story hasn't ended, but it’s up to us to write the next chapter. We start in November. #HD47

The Fla Supreme Court has declined to take up an emergency petition related to the new map. It means the map being used for qualifying and this year's elections will remain in place. It does not end the legal battle & underlying challenge is still intact
The Florida Supreme Court has REJECTED the challenge to the state’s redistricting plan and new map. This assures that the recently enacted map will be in place for the 2026 election.

Just heard from people detained at Alligator Alcatraz that they are being given foul water, insufficient food, and that people with illnesses such as diabetes are being given this water that they describe as tainted with insects, such as mosquitoes.

In Fla., FPL has been linked to scandal & controversy - ghost candidates, trying to kneecap solar energy and attacking journalists who exposed it all. Now FPL's parent NextEra wants to become the largest power company in America. America should be nervous. orlandosentinel.com/2026/06/…

NEW: Florida's Legislature just approved a major property tax break for the ballot this November. But the House and Senate bill sponsors can't even agree on what it actually does. 🧐 tampabay.com/news/florida-po…

Beyond defunding public schools, this headline gets to why DeSantis wants to eliminate property taxes in Florida. It would also strip local governments from crucial revenue, making them more dependent and controlled by Florida’s state government.

Ossoff: This is what small men like Donald Trump and JD Vance and Stephen Miller will never understand—that our national greatness flows not through our blood or our genes, but through our ideas. Americans are not a race, we're a people united not by ethnicity, but by our shared convictions, and that is what makes us exceptional

Just got the Property Appraiser's analysis. The upcoming property tax proposal would cut the MSTU that funds the Alachua County Sheriff's Office by roughly 35%. That's a 35% hit to the tax base that pays for local law enforcement. That’s defunding the police:

I agree taxpayers deserve relief. What I don’t agree with is making one of the biggest changes to Florida’s fiscal structure in decades based on the assumption that there’s enough waste somewhere to make it all work, especially when done over the weekend with no analysis. Maybe there is. Show me the math. What’s the revenue loss? What’s the replacement? Who funds the trust fund? What happens during the next downturn? What taxes get raised? How long can counties depend on the state for basic funds? Good policy isn’t built on assumptions. It’s built on numbers. What I really don’t like is that he doesn’t have to eat his own cooking. He gets to leave it to the next governor to sort it out if this turns out to be a dumpster fire policy.

The Governor's property tax proposal was released roughly 24 hours ago. The Legislature is expected to vote on it early next week. For a proposal that could fundamentally restructure local government finance in Florida, that's warp speed. As I see it, lawmakers have three options. Realistically, only two are viable. 🧵

1. Lead Left, a super PAC created on 4/24, purports to stand "against MAGA extremists." It has spent $3M in Democratic primaries. But it's funders and motivations have been secret. Until now. It's a GOP dirty tricks operation. 🧵

It sounds as if the governor's proposal would apply to Florida public schools and education - but that has not really been addressed so far. He talked about creating a stand-alone fund the state would put $ in ... a full 250k exemption likely to cost schools billions

The death of dozens of sloths connected to Sloth World in Orlando is deeply disturbing and raises serious concerns about the treatment of and importation of exotic wildlife into the United States. I've sent a letter to @USFWS requesting answers on this tragedy. There must be additional safeguards added to better protect these vulnerable animals from neglect and unsafe conditions. clickorlando.com/news/local/…

In state budget, FL Senate, House agree to evenly split $300M in "sprinkle lists" of hometown projects, per @Sen_Hooper. That's about half the current total. Sharpen that veto pen, @GovRonDeSantis.
