Finished my PhD in 3 years instead of 4 (thanks, COVID), and defended my thesis in the middle of a snowstorm with 140 cm of snow (2nd pic is me on the way of defense). Nothing like a challenge to the very end! #PhD
Thanks to @omartheharb for the excellent VEuPathDB workshop at International Babesiosis Meeting 2025! Truly appreciated the insights and engaging discussions. @veupathdb#IBMV#IBM
Last month, I got interviewed by a Japan’s agriculture newspaper.
As mostly farmers will read this newspaper, I don’t know if they will find my cytoadhesion/ridge story interesting enough or not 😅
Congratulations!
First time I listened to the SHIFTiKO story in MAM last year, it is an incredible system and a huge step on gene modification in malaria.
A Happy New Year indeed! Our new scaleable DiCre system in malaria parasites, SHIFTiKO, has found its home yesterday at Nucleic Acids Research! academic.oup.com/nar/advance…
Excited to announce the publication of the first paper from my PhD!
@PLOSPathogens
In this story we revealed the critical role of SBP3 in ridge formation and cerebral babesiosis, while having an important role in survival of the parasite.

Welcome back! VEuPathDB resources are back online today! We will continue to provide bioinformatics services under a new organizational structure. Read more here: veupathdb.org/veupathdb/app/…
Yay! Our study of malaria parasite kinetochore proteins is now published in @NatureComms. Jiahong and friends tagged different component of the mitotic apparatus and viewed with Ultra-Expansion Microscopy and multi-section Electron Microscopy. How cool! rdcu.be/dNlcj
It was incredible to have @DuraisinghLab here at @MBLBoP to teach us about large scale functional genomic screens of #Plasmodium and #Babesia. His inspiring journey from London through Melbourne to Boston added a personal touch to the experience.
Sumimasen!
First of all, Kimwipes are not to wipe your hands 👎🏼
Second, Japanese tissue paper are the “worst of all” in the world, except Kimwipes which are the lifesavers at the lab 🤝
