I can't believe the humour is lost on here but those posts are satire spin on the posts that circulate about indian caste system on chinese social media.
I keep seeing posts from Indians claiming that China has a caste system similar to India's. They keep throwing around the terms Shi (士), Nong (农), Gong (工), and Shang (商) as if they were ethnic groups. These were just the four primary occupations of a Confucian society.

In other words, Indian elites are useless. News at 11.
Nilekani and many other industry bigwigs spent the last two years insisting India did not need to build its own frontier models because it could simply rent them from Silicon Valley, but this week Washington finally flexed its muscles and showed the world who is really calling the shots. The US government told a private company, Anthropic, to switch off its frontier tier model Fable 5 for every foreign national on the planet, its own foreign staff included, days after TCS signed up 50,000 of its engineers to run on Claude. The models a rung below still function, so the deal is not dead, but its ceiling has been set by someone in Washington rather than anyone in Mumbai, and our dhandho overlords' reply is to smile and take what is left on the shelf. Sarvam shipping a pair of open weights is genuine progress but still nowhere near the scale this moment demands. The real obstacle was never just about talent or capital: it was that our lala IT houses have spent decades fattening on the malai of labour arbitrage and have no stomach for the unglamorous, capex-heavy grind of frontier R&D, while the sarkari establishment that might have forced their hand with danda and serious subsidies stays more animated about whether a child's midday meal is properly sattvic than about who owns the GPUs or frontier model weights.

Very true. I was part of a startup that was involved in R&D in platform for unified hw/sw design in the early 2000s. When we approached the babus for recognition as an R&D unit, they just laughed at us & dismissed us. Even if the govt wants to do some good these guys will stop it

Indians are blaming Infy/Murthy/Nandan for a lack of home-grown LLM. But that blame is misplaced. Infy/Murthy/Nandan could never start an AI company. They had money and they could have fund something. But that again, is their money and why should they risk it? The real culprit here is Amitabh Kant and other IAS like him. These are the people, why I left India and started two companies in the US. These are the people, why much of Indian talent left to work for US based companies. And these folks did well. Let's say the government gives me $10B and ask me to set up an AI lab in India. Am I qualified to do it? YES. Will I do it? HELL NO And you would ask why? Some would say that I have a cozy life in the US. Some would say, I have deep connection in the US, including family. All of that is correct but does not pin point the reason why I wont start a company in India. The real reason is Babu. Unlike, many In India who think competing for 1000 seats using some bullshit essay writing contest makes Babu some wizard, I have not come across one, I will hire as an analyst. Under no circumstance, I am gonna report to a babu (Happy report to Dharmendra Pradhan or Smriti Irani though). Also, under no circumstances, I will accept a position where I am unable to fire and put an IAS in jail if they reported to me and indulged in some corruption. Till this babu problem is fixed, no NRI would come to India. If I were the CIA or CCP, trying to ensure that India does not gain AI independence, I would make every effort to protect Babu fiefdom.

I mean that can be said for India, but it still doesn’t take from the fact that both countries had hierarchical stratification.
I may hate the mainland govt. too but this is simply Not True; reading even a lick of Chinese history shows that for most of the last dynasties there were no rigid jatis/varnas as in the case of India.

You adopt ideas that those people don't support. In your quest for being different, you become Oikophobic. The end product of that is something like this. x.com/i/status/2065693708687…

it's not the algorithm's fault when big Indian accounts (run by Indian journalists, INC/DMK IT cells, and urban Indian Muslims) keep boosting anti-Hindu / anti-Indian racism.

Sanskrit (संस्कृतम्) Sanskrit is language of Indus Valley land ( modern Pakistan🇵🇰), we need to bring our historic language back to our land, we losted our Vedic culture and Sanskrit language after rapid Arab, Mughal and Türkic invasions, let's rebuild our Vedic civilization.

Indians lived and worked with and under the British for 200 years...the same race that created 5 great nations -USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand... Shouldn't Indians have learnt in those 200 yrs how to build a great nation & implement that post Independence?

What did the Britain give to india? Infrastructure was for their own good, railways to steal the loot. Indians were heavily taxed for using British railways. Britain is a loser island who had no resources so they came to India to steal. End of story.

I think you have to be careful. It’s better to compile the evidence, and then release all at once showing the connections. Instead of releasing it piecemeal, allowing them to cover their tracks.
HOLY SHIT. I've always avoided to say this, as i was lacking concrete proof of this... But, now i think its time.. Congress IT cell is the part of larger anti india nexus which operates with the sole purpose of dehumanising indians to such an extent that people don't even hesistate to commit physical violence against indians. Tarun uploaded a video of bangladeshi man, farrukh abdullah, who was licking photos of a lady, and deliberately labelled him as an indian. But thats not it, the interesting part is that he did it right after the anti india telegram channel uploaded it on 8:03 AM IST. THE MASKS ARE FALLING OFF!!

It is disheartening to watch India’s IT veterans fumble AI this badly. They had the capital. They had the head start. They had every reason to see this coming. And even now, they are out here explaining why India should not build frontier models. Man, this just hurts.

At least use the rents extracted to fund capital investment and R&D. Even they cannot do that.
Indian billionaires are excellent at rent seeking, gate keeping, regulatory capture, labor arbitrage, mercantile trading and motivational speeches. Innovation etc. are out of syllabus.

When a Chinese understands Indian economy better than most Indian & Indian Babus & experts. Only thing our Babu&Netas mastered is Copium to escape reality. But how long can we escape reality when even BD is crossing India with labour intensive garments manufacturing exports??
But resilience is not the same as industrial strength. India is less exposed to global trade shocks partly because it never built the export-oriented manufacturing base that China and Korea built. That is not a success story. It is also a development constraint. A large population does not automatically mean a deep market. With per capita income around $3,000 and deep inequality, India’s home market cannot sustain mass industrial upgrading on its own. This is why Rajiv Kumar, former Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, makes the sharper point: India’s long-standing export pessimism has kept manufacturing stagnant, weakened labour-intensive sectors like garments and leather, and turned “domestic demand” into an excuse for avoiding global competition.

I am done staying in Nepal and creating hope, only for the pathetic Nepal government to break you from every side. Going forward, I will no longer provide my knowledge, time, or cybersecurity expertise to the Government of Nepal.

The very fact that Indian intellectuals and policymakers didn’t realize this in like 2010, really shows how useless Indian elites are.
In the US and China many frontier tech companies are led by top PhDs, deep researchers, or entrepreneurs who understand the science and product from first principles. In India, too many “technology” companies were built on labour arbitrage, not original innovation. So when frontier AI arrives, many decision-makers are simply in the wrong room. They don’t know what to build, whom to hire, or what technical depth even looks like. That is why the default response becomes licensing, JVs, reseller agreements, or renting data centers. But none of that creates frontier capability. A country does not become an AI power by hosting dinners or signing distribution deals. It becomes one by backing exceptional researchers, engineers, founders, compute infrastructure, and long-horizon technical ambition.

This isn’t true. There is Pancasila which means if you don’t declare yourself as monotheistic, you have no religious recognition. Secondly, Indonesia does a lot of settler colonization where they ship muslim settlers to non muslim regions and settle them. Western Papua, for example has a massive Muslim population because of this, this is from colonizing Christian Papuan regions with Muslim settlers. As a consequence, there used to be massive insurgencies in eastern indonesia.

What’s crazy about Bihar is the number of languages it has. Not only Urdu, but also Maithili, Bhojpuri, Magahi, Angika, Bajjika.
people don’t (refuse) to understand muslim culture. i love being bihari muslim. one walk through patna and a completely new world will unfold unto you, a history of muslim identity, forged and intertwined with their hindu brethren. co-constituted in education and knowledge.

America is doing what Dr Abdul Kalam wanted the Indian govt to do in 1998. After pokharan II blast US-West sanctioned India. Kalam told me (which I have recorded many times) to persuade PM Vajpayee (who I was close to) to ensure the sanctions continue for our tech to develop
This is big: all access to Mythos and Fable AI models disabled for everyone outside America. First thoughts: 1. Technology is the ultimate weapon. National sovereignty, national security, all of it is now about technology. 2. Globalization is dead and Bharat must find her own way ahead. We must keep these two ideas in mind. What can our government do right now? Ensure that orgs in India embrace smaller models, both Indian and Chinese open source ones. With a bit of effort, we can make them work. Anyway, why pay money to people who don't even want to sell to you? We must deepen our R&D. Sarvam has been on it and we have been on it but remember that the latest models cost not only huge GPU budgets to train, the GPUs themselves are restricted. So we can't afford the scale of money (of the order of $100 billion to even get in the game!) and even if we could come up with the money, we can't get all the GPUs. I would not like to ask the government to fund tens of billions of dollars on this anyway - the money has far better uses. Zoho has been pursuing alternative R&D approaches that are far, far less expensive but by its nature cutting edge R&D takes time and we are patient. I am confident we will get there. Any remaining people in India who have delusions about globalization should wake up now.

The Roman gentry of Africa (modern Tunisia) survived through both the Vandal & Byzantine periods. It wasn't until the 11th century that they were fully swept away in an act of spite by the Fatimids.

While Iran’s high nobility lost power to the Arabs, the local gentry remained Persian. They & their descendants would preserve, synthesize, and advance Persianate culture. By contrast the old Roman gentry of Levant & Egypt seems to have been wiped out in the 602-628 bloodletting.
