Iconic game. Iconic track. Many hours of my youth were submitted to “Intencity” entertainment centre of the “Marion Megaplex”… At opening it was 30 screens. Largest cinema complex in Australia. Combined with “Sanity Music” for buying CDs next door, this was teen-Mecca.
First trailer for the new ‘CRAZY TAXI’ game. Releasing in 2027.

A misspent youth on PS2/3 racing my ghost of Gran Turismo makes me ache with joy for this…
🏃‍♂️ I've gamified my own run so I can race my own ghost with the Meta Ray-Ban Display. I built a web app for the glasses, loaded a previous GPX from Strava, and dropped game mechanics on top. Pick up coins when you keep pace, sprint zones reward extra points if you push, and a mini leaderboard on the lens shows how you're tracking against your past self in real time. Best part: it actually works. Seeing your ghost 20 m ahead is a way stronger nudge than any number on a watch. 😅

Just one day after ending "The Late Show" on CBS, Stephen Colbert returned to TV — to host a public access show with rocker Jack White in Monroe, Michigan. Appearances by Jeff Daniels, Eminem and Steve Buscemi.

"the moral suspicion of ambition itself" So beautifully said
This is so incredibly good: Economist Joseph Schumpeter warned that capitalism weakens when prosperous societies become so comfortable they forget where prosperity came from – and begin resenting the entrepreneurial class that created it. A country might survive high taxes for periods of time. What becomes dangerous is something deeper: the moral suspicion of ambition itself. The creeping belief that commercial success is inherently exploitative, that profit is morally dubious, or that founders should quietly accept punishment for surviving years of uncertainty. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Treasurer Jim Chalmers should think carefully about the signals embedded in this budget. Tax policy communicates values. This budget signals that founders are not viewed as partners in national prosperity, but simply reservoirs of revenue whose success is viewed with suspicion... Civilisation advances because some people are willing to bet on tomorrow before tomorrow exists. Australia should be doing everything possible to encourage those people to build businesses here. Because once a society begins treating ambition as something suspect rather than admirable, it eventually discovers that no nation can remain prosperous after teaching its most ambitious people that they are unwelcome. afr.com/politics/federal/bud…

Since a lot of people are confused about what this is, every telescope here is owned by a person. Each person can log in remotely to use their telescope to capture photos of space from our dark skies!

Great question. “… if markets are so efficient, why do we keep building Little Islands of central planning, inside markets?“
We've been thinking a lot at Stripe about the Coasean lens on AI: - The obvious near-term effect is reduced transaction costs within companies: shared context, systems of record, aligned incentives etc. - But inter-company transaction costs also reduce sharply: agents are great at discovery, make it trivially easy to integrate; make contracting much more straightforward; agent-to-agent commerce. - On net, we think second effect bigger in medium term: fewer people per firm, more output per firm, just more firms, and more coordination happening through market-like mechanisms

Whoah, self-driving cars compete with airlines. I never considered that till now.
Yesterday I drove my @tesla 900 miles on FSD from Miami to Nashville and I realized it’s genuinely the better option. I fly that route 2 to 3 times a month. Flights are never under $400. Most times $600. Sometimes $800. Add Uber to and from both airports, or parking garage fees. Then factor in the delays, the cancellations, the security theater, the chaos, the guy next to you who hasn’t met deodorant yet. On the other hand: I pack healthy snacks, press one button, and the car just goes. I took calls. Replied to emails. FaceTimed my family. Ate without pulling over. Did everything I normally do on a travel day, except none of the stuff that makes travel days miserable. My biggest concern going in was range and charging. Here’s what actually happened: My bladder needed one extra stop the car didn’t even suggest. Most charging stops were under five minutes. Total cost for the whole trip was less than just the uber to the airport. And this was the base model Y. Now I’m thinking I should get something comfier and just make this the default.

I know nothing.
For decades, biology textbooks have enshrined a simple rule: DNA is made by copying a template. After one enzyme unzips a DNA double helix into separate strands, another called a polymerase builds a complementary sequence, base by base, for each strand. Presto: two copies of the original DNA. But new research into how bacteria defend themselves from viruses now shows this synthesis rule isn’t absolute. Now, a team describes a bacterial enzyme that synthesizes DNA without a nucleic acid template, using its own structure as a guide. Learn more: scim.ag/4tTc5IA @NewsfromScience
