Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson with the dissent of the century:
“Deeming race irrelevant in law does now make it so in life… No one benefits from ignorance.”
.@NCCN released survey results last week of 27 NCCN-member institutions
IMPORTANT FINDINGS
➡️ 93% of centers are currently experiencing a shortage of #carboplatin & 70% have a similar lack of #cisplatin
➡️100% of respondents are still able to treat pts who need #cisplatin without any delays/claim denials
➡️64% of respondents are able to keep current pts w/ #carboplatin on the regimen
➡️20% of respondents report being able to continue #carboplatin for some but not all pts
➡️Overall, 16% of respondents report treatment delays as a result of needing to re-obtain prior authorization for modified treatment plans, but none have met with outright denials
This issue is widespread across many disease types apart from #gyncancer, including #lungcancer, #breastcancer, #prostatecancer, and as well as many #leukemia and #lymphoma types. The survey is telling and does not take into consideration many non-NCCN centers that may be having a more difficult time managing these shortages.
Surprisingly, over 55% of NCCN centers are not sure if local legislative offices are aware of these shortages. Let's help change that! @SGO_org has an easy tool to help you write your local offices: sgo.org/take-action/. Help us continue to advocate for our patients by bringing this to the attention of policymakers.
