Here's a Chinese-room style thought experiment on AI as theft:
Take two sealed rooms, one containing a human artist, one containing an AI model. You don't know which is which. You feed both rooms with the life works of Salvador Dali and ask them to learn the style. You then return a month later and ask both rooms to produce an image in the style of Dali.
When these works are produced, is there an argument to be made that a crime of theft has been committed in one room, but not the other?
If Ai is theft, everything is theft.
