The planning application relating to the proposed expansion of the All England Lawn Tennis Club grounds onto Wimbledon Park Golf Course has been 'called in' by Deputy Mayor @JulesPipe
ALT A spokesperson for the Mayor of London said: “This is a major planning application, of London-wide significance. Therefore, the Deputy Mayor has issued a direction under Article 7 of the Town and Country Planning (Mayor of London) Order that he becomes the local planning authority for the purposes of determining the application. A full planning hearing will be held in due course.”

This is why felling 800 trees in Wimbledon Park for @Wimbledon industrial tennis complex makes no sense. Over 800,000 kgC released into the atmosphere along with loss of bird and wildlife habitats. @Merton_Council@wandbc#MOL#environment#trees shd be the primary consideration
Public meeting Tues. 14 Nov. 7.30pm St Michael’s Church, 71 Wimb. Pk Rd to discuss Wimbledon Parks’s plans by the AELTC ahead of Wandsworth Council hearing of the application. All welcome.

Will Metropolitan Open Land - Heritage Parkland, covenant prevail OR tonnes of concrete& 2000 trees felled to quench All England Tennis Lawn Club’s appetite? This Labour-majority Merton planning committee will decide democracy.merton.gov.uk/mgMe…
Against all environmental evidence, against the covenant to protect Merton, against the general public. In favour of an elitist for profit club. What’s going on in Merton Council?

Stuart Neaverson,
Michael Butcher, Sheri-Ann Bhim, Aidan Mundy

We despair. Such bias and greenwashing. Every question deferred to applicant so they can milk as much as possible. Why didn’t Merton bring in their own experts to answer from a neutral point of view. BTW @merton_council YOU own the lake!
