"Men used to go to war" thing is a played out misunderstanding of reality. We used to go to war so that we could not go to war. That was up until wars became a matter of fighting on behalf of international bankers for reasons beyond our knowledge.
Men want hardship, a good struggle, a good challenge. They don't want to kill their fellow man over nothing. We haven't had a good war in a while. Korean War? Pretty good, turned out to be worth it. Koreans are great and they love America. Everything after it? Not really good.
The South didn't want to kill their fellow man in the War of Northern Aggression. They were forced to defend their land from the zealous Yankee tyrant. The North completely raped the entirety of the South for virtually zero reason.
Men used to go to war to see if war could be put to rest, should they win. To see if the little time we get on this Earth could be something productive and beautiful, before we die and face God's judgement.
But hey, women used to keep their mouths shut.
