"Poor people" and they somehow have a phone/computer time of the day to type their excuses on Twitter and watch playthroughs. They're nowhere near as poor as you paint them to be. They're just too lazy to emulate or too cheap, or they're teens with no allowance.

I’m not even super right wing on questions of suffrage. I’m certainly willing to entertain all kinds of arrangements. But what I believe pretty strongly is that there are no intellectuals remaining on the left with respect to this stuff. I just literally don’t know how you can watch us speed run into having a girls party and a boys party and still have basically no introspection about the intersection of gender and politics beyond just, “patriarchy bad.” Like, never, even in your darkest moments, even when you’re alone on a desert island and no one can see you or hear you and there’s no risk of you getting in trouble, do you ever think critically about the consequences of universal suffrage? Do you literally have no critiques? Do you genuinely believe there are no downsides? Will you not allow yourself to have any ordinary thoughts at all?

McDonald's announced they're replacing cashiers with kiosks in California just after the $20 minimum wage kicked in. Shocking to absolutely no one who understands basic economics. When you artificially price labor above its market value, employers find substitutes. Machines, automation, or they simply eliminate positions entirely. The teenagers who desperately need that first job experience? Gone. The single mother trying to re-enter the workforce after years away? Priced out by someone with more skills. You've just created a legal barrier that prevents the least skilled workers from competing on the one thing they had going for them: willingness to work for less while they build experience. Politicians pat themselves on the back for "helping workers" while unemployment among young minorities hits double digits. The workers who keep their jobs benefit (temporarily), but the invisible victims, those who never get hired in the first place, don't make headlines. Economics doesn't care about your good intentions.

A man, along with his friends, illegally filmed and sexually harassed 80 women, including his girlfriend. Among the victims were minors. His girlfriend discovered this and told him, “Apologize to the victims.” He then committed suicide, and his family and his friends who participated in the sex crime with him sued her. In the first trial, the court ruled her innocent of the crime of coercion but guilty of the crime of defamation with factual disclosure. The prosecution judged that her continuous statements to him saying, “Apologize to the victims,” caused his fear and anxiety. Although she had reported him to police or sought support programs and treatment information when he said, “I’m going to commit suicide,” the prosecution deemed her simultaneous caregiving while demanding an apology as “gaslighting.” She responded, “I did not intend to harm him; I simply demanded he apologize to the victims. Judging this as gaslighting stems from the prejudiced assumption that a typical sex crime victim would not make such a claim.” However, the situation worsened. On June 12, the second trial court ruled her guilty of both coercion and defamation with factual disclosure.
