It literally rains diamonds on Uranus and Neptune.
The outer atmosphere of these planets is rich in methane, hydrogen, & helium. Deeper in the mantle, as pressure & temperature increase, the bonds between carbon & hydrogen break down, & carbon atoms are compressed into diamonds.
These diamonds are nothing like the ones we find on Earth.
They are massive, thick blocks with dimensions in meters.
It is believed that the friction between these diamond chunks causes these planets to radiate more heat than they absorb.
What we treasure on Earth stays there.
But what truly sustains us (trees, nature, life itself) exists nowhere else we know of.
🪵Fun Fact: Wood is one of the rarest materials in the universe, known to exist only on Earth.
