For those who’ve recently found out about our work & want to get involved in helping to restore one of London’s forgotten rivers, we’re having our first clean up event of the winter season on Sunday 27th November. We’ll be clearing some of the worst plastic pollution in London…
“Before landscapes die, they first vanish in the imagination”. This is the story of a small brook on the outskirts of London, the Aldersbrook, which has survived against the odds, but in the worst state imaginable, & my attempts to act as a guardian of this river & its rights🧵
Why is it the same people demonizing drag queen, falsely calling them all groomers, demanding them to be removed from society, protect known conservative and church going groomers because "they're good people". Shouldn't it be the other way around.
Just asking questions here!
Conservatives want to come into your child's school and tell that it's ok for an adult man to want to marry a 16 year old girl cause "that's when she's most fertile" (Matt Walsh)
We have to whatever it takes to prevent men like Matt Walsh from being around our children
I’ve written a column about the death of social networks which probably won’t be out until next month — I’ve asked them if they can put it online earlier — but here are two paragraphs I’d like to share regardless:
ALT Witnessing what looks like the demise of Twitter actually hurts because it is the demolition of somewhere I have experienced meaningful beginnings and endings. It is like watching a youth club being torn down or a library burning. One of the stories of the late twentieth and early 21st centuries in Britain has been the theft and destruction of public spaces: the sale of playing fields, the closure of parks, the removal of water foundations and public toilets, the privatisation and gating of roads where once anyone could walk.
What Elon Musk is doing to Twitter is the virtual version of that and that’s why this column could not be a cold exploration of internet history or business decisions. For those of us who found new kinds of life and new sources of friendship on Twitter, it’s all too personal.
This is a catastrophic collapse of a community that clearly meant a lot to some, and I feel for them. But I will say this: the whole premise of EA, from the beginning, has been "trust us" - they need to acknowledge the value of the poc & women that had the intuition to say "no".
The FTX/SBF/EA implosion story also puts light on inefficiency/nepotism from mission focused organizations not having boundaries between work/dating/social. This is an extension of EA culture at large and led me to take a break from socializing in EA.

16/ There is a deep relationship between the red pill (systematic processes to erode at a woman’s consent so that she has sex with you) and the AI safety spheres. The same people who are studying how to control AI are also studying how to control women. This is not a coincidence.
13/ Her case would set the tone for cases to come.
If a person gets called mentally ill many times, they are usually a sane person who challenged power.
8/ The EA sphere has developed curious blindnesses and memetic defenses against addressing any problems around "women," "minorities," or anything EA would consider to be "left wing newspeak."
These areas are "not rational," or "not a cause area."
e/acc twitter, it’s time for everything they don’t want you to know 🌶
For every like, I’ll give one spicy take on OpenAI, Less Wrong, EA, AI safety, and the adjacent SF circles that they are definitely trying to suppress.
Libertarian style community mediation of sexual assault cases common in EA adjacent communities need to be dumped in favor of police intervention because it leads to gross mismanagement such as medium.com/@itai.ilyich/if-i… and medium.com/@lilyhelpsheros/i…
Without fixing the culture, EA is at risk of losing tons of smart people, especially women, such as my friends and I due to reasons that have nothing to do with ideological differences.
Predatory sexual behavior is extremely common in EA circles and the power enjoyed by these actors, the rate of occurrence and a lack of visible push back equals to a tacit and somewhat widespread backing for this conduct.
I left EA, AI alignment, post rationalist, and adjacent circles due to the normalization of sexual abuse toward women.
Glad that more women are speaking up. Let’s build healthy AI communities to research in psychological safety.
