Had a great day at HMO Gartree celebrating with my heroes on #HiddenHeroesDay on Wednesday. We had lunch together, presented well deserved awards and raised a few pounds for charity.
It’s a pleasure to see that domestic visits started this week with some of our prisoners able to physically see their loved ones. Steady pace to opening up our regime, and prison, safely at HMP Gartree.
We continue to call on government to give priority for all those in prisons for C19 Vaccinations. This informative thread illustrates one of the reasons we make this call.
1/4. New @NuffieldTrust analysis comparing the no of Covid-19 cases in prisons to the general population over the last 6-months. Age-sex standardised case rates per 1,000 have consistently been higher in prison, despite the extended lockdown across the prison estate.

Saw the video and I cried for the lack of humanity and respect for an individual’s life. Surely there is an issue with police training in 🇺🇸 with worrisome killings especially against African Americans. Right call by the Mayor and now make them accountable!
Thread: Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey calls the incident with a 40-something year old black man who died while under arrest “wrong on every level.” A FB video shows an MPD officer pinning the man down as he says he can’t breathe. “This does not reflect the values of MPD.” #wcco
