@MLSA @HSELive Sincerely hoping you are not cancelling strike action and merely postponing it for 4 weeks as per WRC's own wording the process should should be concluded in 3. I eagerly await new strike dates in my inbox. tinyurl.com/bdetv9ph

Should this not be the case and we find ourselves and the valiant efforts of thousands of #MedicalScientists squandered for giving carte blanche to government and the HSE and we are back to square one then my next tweet will be for an EGM for the resignation of Terence Casey.

21 years after a previous judgement from the Labour Court in our favour, the government should need no more gentle persuasion to do the right thing and the Union representing us ensuring that they do.

Sinn Féin's @PearseDoherty raises the issue of the medical scientist strike. He said, "medical scientists are paid 8% less than other colleagues that perform identical work in hospital labs." | More: bit.ly/3wJQgPJ

Another great day on the picket. Sad it had to come to it but the atmosphere and support from the public was brilliant. Hopefully the talks tomorrow are productive or we'll be back out next week! @MedLabAssoc @orourke_darren @DonnellyStephen @HSELive

Finally - actual engagement from the HSE/DoH. They have agreed to join the MLSA in the Labour Court tomorrow. MLSA have agreed to suspend tomorrow’s planned strike. Let’s hope for REAL and concerted engagement so that we don’t have to get back on the picket lines next week

Fixed it for you.30000 hospital procedures cancelled today due to no engagement from @HSELive and @roinnslainte to resolve this long running dispute even after we got the pickets .Strikes mean chaos and are last resort.Cant resolve with zero engagement #MedicalScientists

Critical analysis of what we do. We strive get the right test result to the right patient in a timely & safe manner. Sounds simple. Every day we are hampered by 20% of posts unfilled in pathology due to recruitment and retention issues over #payparity #MedicalScientists

Congratulations to all the Medical Scientists who had the courage to stand up for themselves today. A nationally coordinated, respectful yet firm protest against our deplorable treatment. Up to HSE/ DoH to resolve this now before 2 days of strike next week.

Day 1 on the picket complete. Thanks to every member of the public who took the time to interact. Blown away by support which isn't easy for all who've endured hardship of cancelled care during covid.#MedicalScientists

No more political posturing with patient care or the wellbeing of our staff. Do not test our resolve to continue and escalate our action as we have no other option. No more spin. End this stand off now by showing a sense of decency & respect for the essential services we provide

We apologise to our patients for disrupting your access to health services. We apologise to our colleagues for the additional burden we place on your already weary shoulders. We DO NOT apologise for demanding #equalpayforequalwork having spent 20 years negotiating. Enough now.

In Ireland a lot of people are about to see just how vital laboratory services are to the day to day running of a health service. Just can’t function without them. #MedicalScientists

Medical laboratory scientists throughout the country are striking tomorrow. The impact of the work they do may not be realised until it is not available. The work of MedLab scientists is crucial to diagnostics and blood transfusion and therefore necessary for the running of (1/n)
