Highlights included a simultaneous chess exhibition led by a female Olympic player, 3 HYDRA machines running live, MANDALORIAN for midnight privacy, workshops about MIDNIGHT, Intersect VISION 2030, Txpipe , and 7 technical talks, and the inauguration of the Laboratory of Decentralized Computing and Digital Trust by IO Research , with an academic track on verifiable computation, zkVMs, private verifiable computation and MPC mythbusting. The entire event was designed around a Japanese theme, honoring Cardano’s origins in Japan and the warrior spirit of the builders who completed the IOG-led course and hackathon :Hackathon prizes of 10,000 USD, awarded together with katanas in three categories: black, red, and white 🥷 • Taiko performances, Kendo demonstrations, and a Japanese food experience with Dorayaki (traditional Japanese sweet) and sushi for attendees • Special merch: a Japanese-style mate, symbolizing the cultural bridge between Japan, Argentina, and LATAM We want to thank @IOHK_Charles and @jj_siler for making the inauguration of the Laboratory of Decentralized Computing and Digital Trust at the Summit possible. Cardano Faces ‘Wave Of Failures’ Cardano (@Cardano) founder Charles Hoskinson (@IOHK_Charles) warned that more projects and firms in the ecosystem could shut down this year as market conditions worsen. “I said at the beginning of the year, we’re going to see a lot of people collapse because the markets are really bad,” Hoskinson said. “There’s going to be a wave of failures in the ecosystem.” The comments came after Cardano analytics platform TapTools announced it was sunsetting operations after four years. $ADA has fallen to around $0.20, its lowest level in more than five years, and is down over 93% from its 2021 peak.

Whenever $ADA drops and Cardano FUD picks up, people attack @IOHK_Charles and the FEs. They've never attended a global blockchain event, never experienced the networking and opportunities those rooms create, yet they dismiss @CardanoSummit as trivial. They've never run a project or built real industry experience, yet they criticize their work and attack the people themselves rather than the message. Like a witch hunt. It feels like the community is cannibalizing itself. The reality of Cardano governance is moving away from the ideal of decentralized governance. Realistically, no DRep and no team can replace what Charles and the FEs do. Plainly speaking, if Charles or the FEs ever leaves Cardano, this network has no future. I wish people would respect the individuals and organizations that built Cardano, defined its vision, and carry real influence in this market. Bluntly: there is no one in this ecosystem, no team, capable enough to replace them.

People love to complain about Charles. But they forget legendary moments like these. Charles built Cardano from scratch. He gave billions of $NIGHT to the community for free. All those years, he dedicated his time, energy, and passion to Cardano and Midnight. Instead of complaining, maybe it’s time to show some support and appreciation for everything he has done for this ecosystem. Because after every bear market comes a bull market. Don’t complain. IO Research: A proposal worth fighting for From my earliest days in the ecosystem, I was captivated by the idea of paper-based research, a market differentiator that brought seriousness and professionalism to the industry and to Cardano. I was completely fascinated by concepts like liquid democracy. These are contributions to the history of humanity that will be studied for many, many years to come. That is part of building a legacy. That is what we set out to do, and what I signed up for. Senior government executives and scholars praised the academic work built upon our foundations, work that made our structure and technology so solid and resilient. These are researchers and PhDs, unmatched and immensely valuable talent that we cannot afford to let go. And I agree with @IOHK_Charles that this research will be essential to meet the technological challenges ahead, to remain relevant and resilient. To give just one small example, consider the eventual arrival of quantum computing, or the question of scalability. When the content of these papers is mentioned in universities, it conveys a feasibility and credibility that is beyond question among the most distinguished scholars. The ink, the words, and the outcomes of those papers are where the engineering and the soundness are later built. Both their upkeep and our participation in them are part of our DNA. It can often be difficult to process the sheer volume of information presented to us, but I invite you to read some of the content here and to be as amazed as I once was.
