"How much will I lose during strikes?" @DrBeckyl has the answer and it’s probably less than you think. A quick video for doctors unsure about how strike deductions work. If you want to calculate it more precisely, use the payslip app: pay.doctorsvote.app/payslip-…

The hospital says it ‘couldn’t identify who saw the patient’ - Discharged - Getting worse, his father calls 111 (non-emergency line) - No answer for 2h, is triaged to get a call back from a clinician - Gets even worse. Parents take him back to A&E. - Diagnosed with a ruptured appendix and dies of septic shock. leighday.co.uk/news/press-re…

Surely the more economically responsible thing is to settle the strikes? Mr Streeting had months to do so but instead produced nothing on pay and recycled jobs. Doesn’t seem to be going particularly ‘hard and fast’ when recommending a below inflation pay award to the review body
Strikes have cost half a billion @wesstreeting tells @CommonsHealth

We’ve received multiple reports of London NHS trusts saying they intend to call @BMAResidents doctors every day of the strike as “welfare checks” and to ask if they’re striking. Doctors - you are under no obligation to answer such calls, or to divulge your intent to strike. 1/2

Everything? When Ross and I left, we were exploring multi-year pay deals. We’d discussed solutions to the training crisis. You’d already promised UK grad prioritisation with grandfathering. Yet here we are in Dec with 29,000 doctors rejecting your offer but no new one. Do better
We did everything we could possibly do to avoid these strikes taking place at Christmas. We'll now do everything we can over the coming weeks to make sure the NHS is there for you when you need it.

There is now a generation of doctors who refuse to be gaslit By anyone. The lack of spine amongst many doctors has always bothered me This generation gives me hope.

Time for @wesstreeting to get serious. He's had a year to avoid these strikes and all he's done is backtrack on his promises. It's within his power to stop strikes by simply putting forward a respectful offer to doctors. Negotiate.
Resident doctors have sent a clear message by voting NO to Streeting’s offer. 83.2% voted no 65.3% of residents voted Strikes are on: 7:00am 17 December to 06:59am on 22 December Join your colleagues on the picket line! Vote YES on your paper ballot to renew our mandate.

Sorry Wes, did we hurt your feelings? We don't think union busting is a laughing matter, nor is carving up the NHS for your wealthy donors. Stop dragging doctors through the mud, and get a real offer on the table.

I would have rejected outright. Obviously. If the government wants us to call off strikes, they'd be responding to our asks, not presenting fake jobs and ignoring pay. NO, thanks. #NOthanks #FullPayRestoration #Jobsnotagoodun This is why we should vote for @DoctorsVoteUK

Hey @wesstreeting you rattled? Maybe you could get your spads to look at the training crisis, bottlenecks and doctor retention rather than getting them to copy graphics from a grassroots group of residents. Embarrassed for you.
The answer is simple. Here's what resident doctors voting YES to the offer will mean for their careers: gov.uk/government/news/gover…

Congratulations to @fletchjack ! This year has been transformational and I want to thank everyone that has supported me through the good times and the bad. We've achieved a lot, but there's a lot more work to do. Good luck to the new officer team
Introducing our new chair of UK RDC, Dr Jack Fletcher @fletchjack is taking over from @Melissa_S_Ryan and @RossNieuwoudt at a pivotal time, as we continue to negotiate with the Government on pay and jobs. Read our statement in full: bma.org.uk/bma-media-centre/…

I always said I'd step down if I didn't agree with what RDC was doing. I did last year, when the pay deal was rubbish. This week, I voted for negotiations to continue, alongside most RDC colleagues. We only strike to get into the negotiating room; that's the whole point. 1/4

It’s not the BMA “undermining the trade union movement”. It’s a Labour Prime Minister, writing in the Murdoch press, urging junior doctors to break with their union leadership. That’s a direct attack on trade unionism. Solidarity with @TheBMA and junior doctors on strike.
Keir Starmer: Resident doctors should break ranks with the BMA leadership. The industrial action that starts on Friday is in no one’s interests and medics should not follow their union down its dangerous and destructive route, he says. thetimes.com/article/3fdcd57…
