#PostOfficeScandal Professor Moorhead OBE said “Whilst delighted and not a little proud, it is important to say that a good dollop of luck and the support of those around me is what makes for moments like these. “It is particularly sobering that my most important contributions have been built on the Post Office Scandal. It has been a galvanising story of human misery and I owe a profound debt to the decency of the victims who are role-models for us all. Working on their experiences has enriched my life immeasurably. Their treatment holds up a mirror to an all-too-common corporate, professional, and legal culture that can ruin lives." news.exeter.ac.uk/faculty-of…

Congratulations to Richard, very well deserved. 💯💯💯
I don’t think he’s on X any more but Richard Moorhead has been given an OBE in the birthday honours list. Richard has done a phenomenal amount of thinking, writing and work on helping victims of the Post Office scandal and his award is very well deserved.

So deserving 💙 Richard, has been a rock in both of his roles: HCAB, where his experience has played a pivotal role in fairness being drawn out and his individual Legal role is nothing short but inspirational.

9/13 Amidst its defence to the ICO, the Post Office cited, as one of its reasons for not disclosing the HSS Guiding Principles, the risible idea that this may ‘necessitate additional explanations’ and therefore ‘delay compensation’.

I have closely followed the #NottinghamInquiry and have been truly disgusted in the conduct of "professionals" and those in positions of power throughout. Cover up after cover up. Dismissal after dismissal. Passing the book, failure to speak up, failure to act with decorum, empathy and candour. Professionals acting with everything but professionalism whilst bereaved families and victims were sat in the room! Why are we continuing to see these patterns? Because this is the culture within our country! A police force who tried to prevent the media from reporting on their failures, professionals who deemed that a dangerously violent man was so "calm and kind" that he was fit to live amongst us, and in turn those failures enabled him to violently attack time and time again, and eventually - murder and attempt to murder. As a society, we need to start calling this out for what it was - Barnaby Webber, Grace O'Malley-Kumar, and Ian Coates were murdered. This was not diminished responsibility! How can we accept that his conviction is safe when our judicial system is so corrupt! If the .@NowHillsborough Public Office Accountability Bill, had been passed last year, as it should have been, it would have been in full throttle throughout this inquiry. But it wasn't! I call on .@KeirStarmer to stop the dithering! Get this Bill complete. YOU are the Prime Minister. This is YOUR pledge to fulfill! Look these families in their eyes and tell them what the delay is! I also call on the .@attorneygeneral to pick up speed and complete the task in hand! Why are we now 6 months on and still awaiting this amendment issue to be resolved? @CoatesMania @coatesaholic @MrsEmmaWebber @drsanjoykumar and their families deserve justice. Each delay is a stain on the memory of every loved one lost, every survivor who speaks their truth, and every individual left behind in sheer devastation and disbelief that those who should have protected them, let them down in the most unimaginable ways! @catkinson80 @NickTorfaen @ShabanaMahmood @DavidLammy @YvetteCooperMP @JohnHealey_MP #HillsboroughLawNow

PO/Fujitsu Horizon fraud, cover up management lawyer conduct scandal UK's largest ever JOINT ENTERPRISE CRIME? 100 PO staff lawyers worked to extort SPMs cover up own malfeasance incompetence block redress, abetted by govt/officers, for personal, political & corporate gain
Replying to @ElCShaikh
I am afraid that no Government will admit to falsely and unlawfully extorting money from innocent people. The Government will go to extreme measures, using unlimited Taxpayer money to protect themselves from exposure or censure. I have a horrible feeling that Sir Wyn's ultimate report will be buried in expensive legal argument and the perpetrators of this terrible scandal will walk away with their millions.

On 17 June, a First Tier Tribunal will decide whether the ICO was right in its decision not to force the PO to disclose its secret Horizon Shortfall Scheme Case Assessment Principles and Case Assessment Guidance. A previous thread, below, includes the original ICO reasoning:
21 Nov 2025
1/13 The Information Commissioner has considered in detail the Post Office’s refusal to disclose the secret Guiding Principles of the Horizon Scandal Scheme on the grounds of its Legal Professional Privilege - which is a qualified exemption.

For those supporting our work for a Public Office Accountability Bill, there is STILL no update. It has been 19 weeks since the report stage of the Bill was cancelled and 4 weeks since we had any correspondence with the PM. We have repeatedly asked the PMs team for a meaningful update, with a specific ask on any progress that has been made with the Bill and sadly have been met with no response. What was a good working relationship is now depleting Campaigners who have been good enough to share their lived experience and trauma, travelling up and down to London, giving evidence at the Bill committee and working with Ministers to get this right are no longer being updated. This whole process is extremely frustrating and incredibly insulting to those who have offered up their time and expertise! Twice this Bill has been pledged in the King's speech! Our position remains the same - a Public Office Accountability Bill in its entirety! Candour should not be optional for those in positions or trust or power! We are close to Parliament breaking for summer recess - please do think of us whilst you all holiday and our lives remain on hold! How much more pressure and convincing does this government need to fulfil a promise that was in its manifesto!! #PublicOfficeAccountabilityBill #HillsboroughLaw #HillsboroughLawNow #DutyofCandour
