What kind of a logic is this? So industrial park will do justice to farmers instead of airport? Reminds me of those days when jj and karunanidhi used to play ego games. Dont go this way @CMOTamilnadu we need a 2nd airport at parandur!

Why is it needed for Chennai?? A long read! Share Max.
Firstly people who’s lands are being acquired for #Parandur Airport are being given :
🔹 3-4 times the market value of the land
🔹Alternate housing is being given to them just next to the project site . Tenders are already out for it
🔹Govt jobs are being promised to the people
➡️Now political parties should push the govt to make sure these benefits reach the people which they truly deserve rather than telling to completely drop the project!
➡️Chennai badly needs a new airport! The existing one at Meenambakkam has planned max capacity of 35 MPA and it’s the smallest in terms of area among all airports. Nearby Bengaluru (70MPA) or Hyderabad (70MPA) have bigger capacities. Mumbai & Delhi are building 2nd airports too. Bengaluru is going for 3rd airport
➡️One can’t acquire land at the existing airport. Getting land from OTA is close to impossible and cost of acquiring land at nearby Gerugambakkam is costlier than that at Parandur.
➡️ Existing one has a river too flowing through it and its layout has always been an issue given its narrow access via GST Rd. Cargo terminal is small as well and we have been losing to Bengaluru/Hyderabad in terms of Logistics ecosystem
➡️Airport is just not about the rich people flying. Reports suggest that more Indians will fly in the next 10 yrs. Indian Airlines have 1,000 planes or order and we need airports to cater to them! Parandur with a full fledged airport will supports Logistics Warehousing ecosystem, Hotels, MRO etc providing jobs for Lakhs!
➡️4-5 sites were studied for a 2nd airport for Chennai & Parandur was found the best considering various factors! It’s literally impossible for find 4,000 acres around Chennai without a water body or agri land!
➡️ Lastly the water bodies there at Parandur are man made lakes! The govt has setup a commission & studied its impact! New artificial lakes will be built with diversion water channel to prevent flooding! Any infra project will have its consequences! Mettur Dam was built submerging several villages. Today it’s the lifeline to several TN’s District!!
Plz support the project! It’s need of the hour! TN and Chennai deserves a world class airport. Plz keep politics away 🙏🙏

If you want to make India a manufacturing and an industrial hub, then the first thing that needs to be abolished, is this practice of holding infrastructural decisions to the whims and fancies of politicians and politics
If a ruling Govt makes a decision on an airport, a metro or a capital and they lose the next elections, the incoming govt should be duty bound to carry them out.
Not change it or stop it, because the incoming political leader made some punch dialogues about it in some random political rally.
Nobody will invest in a country where a new govt made by a new political party can randomly revoke all guarantees and pledges made by the previous govt, because of pure hatred.
These pledges were the reason many people made humongous investments and suddenly they find them evaporate in front of their eyes. And ultimately, it is the people who suffer.
Just ask Mumbaikars and their Metro and how it was uselessly held hostage to political shenanigans for 2 years, causing untold misery and suffering to lakhs of commuters
India has suffered and will suffer a lot because of this abhorrent practice.

Chennai folks should stop opposing skyscrapers
Skyscrapers are good for the same reason buses, trains or nuclear plants are good. They serve more people but need less space & resources
It’s far easier to build infrastructure like metros or sewage to support vertical clusters than horizontal sprawl. Which is easier: build metro to cover 200 km² or 1000 km² ?
Services like garbage collection are also easier for vertical growth than urban sprawl
When a school kid distribute chocolates to classmates for birthday, which is easier: visiting each of their homes? or giving when they’re all in the classroom?
Our current FSI limits are akin to banning local trains or buses. Imagine how stupid & inefficient that would be!
Already TN's tax money is redistributed up north; the little that remains shouldn't be wasted on maintaining suburban sprawl

TN desperately needs a technocratic party that focuses purely on development and improvement of our cityscape and landscape. First focus on improving our per capita income, freebies later!
If most of the money goes into welfare where is the money or Capex for Infrastructure?? We are the 2nd largest economy on paper but look like a third world on the street level. The funny part is even the newest party is also behind welfare & freebies ....😑🤦♂️

The moment anyone talks about skyscrapers / high-rise development then an immediate bandwagon of naysayers will appear in the comment section about why it is not ideal and dismissing the logic behind the ask to simply a vanity aesthetic desire !
But that is the last of the long list of desired outcome we are asking for. You are criminally under utilizing the infrastructure built by having low density development in that place 😑
Horizontal expansion is fool's errand. It is cumbersome , impractical and a money burner for adding new roads, sewers etc., in the expanded area. It is endless Capex and Opex cost for FFS !
Upgrading any gap in other facets of living in a zone with road and metro facility in place is a easy and doable task instead.
You have already ticked few boxes including high density transit like metro , roads in few of these areas now bloody take the fruit of your labour!
Govt. should equally lead the way in this regard. @CMDA_Official should take help from @TIDCO_1965 like agency to identify fragmented old properties, give them incentives to land pool and TIDCO can find right partner in terms of RE to invest. Just in this picture one can identify multiple land holdings which can be redeveloped this way !
Our major cities face surging demand but chronically low office supply, which is affects potential addition of the employment and economic growth which we are leaving unattended on the table now due to this constraint🤦
Take TIDEL Taramani for example , with MRTS-Metro connectivity, it's prime time to redevelop it into a 40-50 storey Grade-A office space. Long long overdue!

Criminal on how Chennai has utilised its all important Anna Salai Rd which is six lane along with a UG Metro. Any other city would have had atleast 15-20 skyscrapers all along this stretch. Our tallest building here is barely 15 floors!! 😤
