In my capacity as chair, I welcomed APSN Members from the AsiaPacific region to the 16th Annual Meeting.
This unique network is committed to working together to solve current and future nuclear safeguards & security challenges, & to providing peer to peer support to each other.
#ASNO is committed to regional cooperation in preventing the illegal transfer of chemicals. Last month @OPCW#ASNO & @AusBorderForce cohosted a regional training course in Brisbane welcoming 21 experts from 12 Pacific island countries to strengthen shared knowledge and expertise.
I would like to congratulate @AusAmbVIE on this appointment.
Ambassador Biggs has contributed significantly to the non-proliferation regime across his career and is well placed to take on this leadership role.
The IAEA Board of Governors has elected @AusAmbVIE Ian David Grainge Biggs 🇦🇺 as the Chairperson of the IAEA’s Board of Governors for 2025–2026. He succeeds Ambassador @matildaalomatu of Ghana.

This week I attended the #INMM 66th Annual Meeting. I spoke in two sessions where my colleagues and I discussed the intricacies of implementing domestic and international safeguards as the nuclear landscape changes, particularly in our region.

Strengthening our partnership with Timor-Leste, I met with senior Government officials to advance our shared goal of #nonproliferation.
We explored collaboration on the CTBT, CWC, NPT and more, reaffirming #ASNO’s dedication to strengthening regional security.
