@paulbristow79 @cambspboromayor thank you for your offer to help Mill Rd move forward yesterday. After ten years of acrimony, you, the traders, politicians and interest groups, started to recognise that there is so much we agree on. Gone were the voices of division that spread rumours and falsehoods. In their place was a recognition that we are all on the same side. Hopefully The Mayor will chair a meeting where we can come together, find what we agree about and do it! @MillRoad4People @cllrkatie

That is one view. Your view @nachal_giyus86. 🧌 Another. @johnmcdonnellMP’s view. Is that the UK is out of step with its citizens. 🧌 Time will tell, which view prevails. 🧌 Probably, the majority do not support genocide. They may say, there is a duty to stand against it. @CambridgeGreens @YPCambridge @cambs_socialist @CambridgeSutr @cam4palestine

John McDonnell's argument falls apart the moment you look at what Palestine Action actually did. This wasn't ordinary protest. This wasn't people holding signs outside Parliament. This was a movement whose members repeatedly engaged in break-ins, criminal damage, sabotage, intimidation, and attacks on facilities, causing millions of pounds in losses. The age of some supporters is completely irrelevant. A pensioner committing a criminal offense does not magically transform it into peaceful activism. What really brings the law into disrepute is the idea that criminal acts should be excused because the perpetrators claim a political cause. The rule of law cannot operate on the principle that vandalism, violence, and destruction become acceptable when directed at targets some politicians dislike. McDonnell wants the public to see activists. The courts saw offenders. That's why they were convicted. #consequences #Justice

I think the expression ‘the law is an ass,’ may have been written for this situation.
Parliament should reverse the decision to proscribe Palestine Action urgently before we see large numbers of elderly people in particular being dragged before our courts. Classifying protest through direct action as terrorism brings Parliament & our judicial system into disrepute

Let’s get our money back!
If the Michelle Mone yacht worth £10 million is confiscated and the £148 million owed to taxpayers is 'paid back' that's £158 million right there in the defence pot. Oh and let's not forget the £500 million owed in taxes by M'Lord Bamford. #BBCLauraK

What really unsettles critics isn't the shirt. It's the idea that Palestinians might have a leader capable of uniting their people and leading the fight for liberation from apartheid the same way Nelson Mandela did. newarab.com/news/uks-zack-po…

Michael Rosen, Miriam Margolyes and Alexei Sayle sit down in a discussion that starts with some preliminaries, and settles down to talk about their understanding of Israel’s plan for the Middle East. Includes, Gaza, antisemitism and Jewish identity, is both enlightening and frightening. youtu.be/URpIy_pWthk?si=Zq0o…

that is not what the ordinary people in this world think. They recognise the tragedy of the 7th of October. They also recognise the ongoing slaughter of innocents and the genocide in Gaza. @thisisyourparty @YPCambridge @LPOOLYOURPARTY @jeremycorbyn
Replying to @GlobalIJournal
No, it is a war - the October 7th War in Gaza. The only deliberate massacre of innocent children occurred in Israel on October 7, 2023, by Hamas and Gazan civilians. It's always unfortunate and tragic that some civilians die in wars caused by evil regimes like Hamas, just like the thousands of German civilians who perished in WW2 because the evil, genocidal Nazis started a war in Europe. So if it's true and not pro-Hamas propaganda like the AI videos that Dr. Haj-Hassan held a dead child in her arms, any moral person world blame Hamas and the Gazans who support Hamas. In fact, it's truly revealing she hold Hamas to zero accountability. Imagine someone about dead German babies in 1943, and her only condemnation is to accuse the Allies of genocide. This is an instant tell of a pro-Nazi activist. Same with Gazan Arabs like Dr. Hah-Hassan with the modern Nazis of Hamas. In fact, by any historical standard, far fewer civilians have died in Gaza than in any previous war, especially wars in densely populated, urban areas like in German cities in WW2. Look below at a picture of the totally destroyed city of Wessel, Germany, in 1945. According to Dr. Haj-Hassan's claim in this video, the Nazis are devoid of any responsibility for this and the Allies committed genocide.

This was HEARTBREAKING Dr. Tanya Haj-Hassan, who volunteered in Gaza, exposed Israel: "I held a lifeless child in my arms. There was no equipment to save him. This is not a war; it is a massacre of the innocent."

Johnathan Miller’s encounter with Enoc Powell (below), reminded me how students on the Public Service Degree could at times be quite racist. To combat this I had a mini and interactive lecture that I adapted for the particular circumstance at the time. In essence, I spoke about my youth, a time when the shops and petrolstations shut at 1700. When meals were modelled around plainly cooked meat and veg and lager didn’t exist. I am sure you can guess how the lecture continued. This, in different circumstances, is how Jonathan challenged Powell. Maybe you can see how relevant this approach is today and could be used to combat Farage’s racist incitement. x.com/operasocialist/status/…

If only someone in the media would expose Farage's incitement yesterday via performative utterance in the same way that Jonathan Miller humiliated Enoch Powell and his grubby little racism.

Congratulations to @cllrkatie on becoming leader of @camcitco. :) Katie Thornburrow has worked hard to become leader of the council. In her acceptance speech, Katie appealed for closer working between parties. Katie also righted some of the democratic deficits in council structure, including allowing all members to participate in council business. For this I am grateful. @thisisyourparty @YPCambridge @CambridgeGreens @CambridgeLDs @CambridgeLabour
