Just published Episode 3 of The Untitled Political Podcast with @MelissaLantsman — we had a great conversation about her trip to Taiwan, protests in Iran, Conservative convention, and much more. Here's our discussion on what's happening in Iran — listen to the end to hear her message to the Iranian people.

A problem created by big government cannot be solved by even bigger government. The federal Liberals have spent tens of billions of dollars on 'housing' and somehow only made things worse. For decades, the federal, provincial, and municipal governments have teamed up to crush our housing industry for short-sighted reasons of political convenience. The end result? Builders have been decimated. Young families can't afford to own a home and start a family. Seniors can't afford to pay their mortgages. Nobody's buying. Nobody's selling. Nobody's building. And it's having devastating impacts on Canada's economy. Beyond the obvious struggle people are having with housing affordability, the downstream effect is massive. It's impacting family formation. It's stalling economic growth. Families being forced to live farther and farther away from where they work mean hundred of billions of dollars in costs for transit and roads. It's impacted our ability to recruit talent and create jobs. The list goes on and on. And the Liberal solution? Building a fourth housing bureaucracy and spending billions more with zero housing targets and zero measurable impact? This doesn't even come close to cutting it. We need to put an end to the housing crisis as soon as possible. And I cannot think of a better way to do it than to elect a Conservative majority government with Scott Aitchison as our housing minister. He's been the housing shadow minister since day one of this government. Nobody knows the file better than him. He's done the job at the municipal level and knows how to get things done. And he's not afraid to take on the big fights and win against local NIMBYs and special interest groups.
After years of Liberal governments layering on new rules, taxes, and bureaucracy, housing has become more expensive and harder to build. The solution is less government interference, not more.

Yesterday, I was in London visiting local Liberals. I wish I could say I enjoyed the day, but I didn’t. Not at all. I’m going to say it bluntly. The situation in downtown London is a total catastrophe. I live downtown east in Toronto. My family is in Hamilton. I’ve travelled to a lot of cities in the province. The plight of Ontarian’s suffering from severe addictions and homelessness has become a huge problem everywhere. Two years ago, when I last visited London, I thought it was getting rough. Just like so many of our urban centers under the Ford era’s provincial decline. But downtown London now? DYSTOPIA. I feel completely disgusted by what we’ve allowed to happen. It is totally immoral. It should be treated as a provincial and national emergency. And by the way, downtown London is otherwise GORGEOUS. Even if half the storefronts are closed. One of the regional MPPs, @RobFlackEML, is Minister of Housing and Municipal affairs. How can you let this happen to your city? How can we turn such a blind eye to the suffering? How do you tolerate the billions of dollars your government spends on scandalous priorities as this gets ignored? How can London possibly attract better jobs, people, and employers when its downtown is like this? - - - It also made me realize that my plans on this file are not enough. Money for supportive and transitional housing, secure rehab and mental health facilities, ODSP benefits, etc may be sufficient to stop more people from ending up on the street. But there are an estimated 2,300 people homeless in London. Many need shelter, treatment, medium-to-long term care. The new HART Hub has 60 beds. It’s inadequate by an order of magnitude. I met with a local shelter providing detox and transitional housing services (who is being shut down later this year, no less). Even when they form people (involuntary entry into hospital/ward to prevent violence or self harm), they are usually out in 24hrs. It’s not the hospitals fault… they don’t have the space. There is no space for people who voluntarily want rehab. Or those who don’t want it voluntarily. Police move people around blocks. There is nowhere for them to go. I left feeling sick and daunted. We have failed so many people.

Can I just point out how funny this is, given the paper is owned by Canada’s wealthiest billionaire family, all of whom inherited their wealth. Should we hate them for that? Of course not, because that would be gross. But, it reflects our tall-poppy syndrome at its finest. Personally, I’m glad that the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan is getting a nice payout, as will many others who took a big risk investing in SpaceX. I wish we had more audacious entrepreneurs making big bets and generating great jobs and wealth here in Ontario. I want to create an environment that makes it even more likely. The world is not zero sum. The size of the pie is not fixed. If we make more, everyone can get a big piece.

This pathetic attitude is among the worst things about our political culture in Canada and I cannot reject it enough. It gets cloaked in the language of progressivism but it is deeply cynical, ugly, and regressive. Story time! Growing up, I was hugely inspired by RIM (BlackBerry). It was one of the reasons why I wanted to go to Waterloo. I thought it was so cool one of the most innovative companies on earth was an hour away from home. In fact, my program, Nanotechnology Engineering, was able to exist in part due to the philanthropy of Mike Lazaridis, who funded the Institute of Quantum Computing and Nanotechnology (along with the Perimeter Institute for theoretical physics, which is a brilliant asset for the province and country). Balsillie, for his part, has spent tens of not hundreds of millions of his personal wealth on advocacy and institutions to make Canada a better place. But he too was castigated in our media. Through high school, I saw how Canadas media took an axe to RIM founders (Mike and Jim), and basically cheered on the decline of the business against competition from Apple and Google. It was a complete disgrace. Well, in 2013 I got my second co-op job there, just as they rolled out BB10 (the QNX operating system). 6 weeks into my co-op, my entire department was laid off (Modems/Semiconductors). Nearly every one of my colleagues ended up moving to the US. Some of the most capable talent on earth, poached in weeks. It was loss that was absolutely devastating to witness. I have no doubt people like Bruce cheered on the spectacle, just like he would cheer the downfall of Shopify if it were to ever happen; despite the champion it’s been for the country, the thousands of good jobs it’s created, and all the spin-off businesses that have created huge wealth for Ontario. Well let me be clear that I will have none of this nonsense.
Replying to @EricDLombardi
Just tag the Shopify guys next time, they might get excited

Instead of getting a deal on tariffs and providing relief for small business owners — the Liberals choose to attack and disrespect them in committee. Unbelievable!
UNBELIEVABLE: The Canadian Federation of Independent Business was at OGGO today and said the Liberals are picking "losers and winners". Then a Liberal MP decided to berate and blame her for their terrible program.

Having trustworthy media is such an important aspect of democracy. Unfortunately, Canada's media is in a state of rapid decline. Sad to see formerly reputable outlets like the @globeandmail turn to ragebait junk and government bailouts to stay alive.

If you’re concerned about housing in this country, I’d encourage you to watch the full conversation I had with Ryan from Northern Perspective.
🚨 THEY ADMIT IT 🚨 Canada’s housing crisis was no accident. It became inevitable once governments started treating housing like a cash machine, piling taxes, fees, delays, and bureaucracy onto the cost of a home. On top of that, unsustainable immigration numbers.

Canadians aren’t “technically” hungry, “technically” unemployed, or “technically” homeless. Carney’s Liberal recession has real costs, and Canadians are the ones paying the price. Check this out 👇

Why does Canada have a Privacy Commissioner if Parliamentarians are blocked from inviting them to committee to advise on questions of privacy? When the Liberals do things like this, it looks a lot like they have something to hide!
SHOCKING The Liberals blocked my request for the Privacy Commissioner of Canada to attend the Public Safety Committee in our attempt to fix Mark Carney’s overreaching surveillance Bill C-22. Not a good day for privacy rights in Canada.

Pierre Poilievre "I remember Mr. Alghabra lobbying me before he was in politics to keep Hezbollah legal, so I'm not sure that he's the right guy to combat anti Semitism." @PierrePoilievre
On the right is Firas Al-Najim, a terrorist supporter who regularly pickets outside Jewish synagogues, schools and seniors homes. He’s an Iranian agent in Canada. On the left is Omar Alghabra, appointed to Mark Carney’s new combatting antisemitism committee.

We should be working to end homelessness in Canada — not incentivizing it. We know the real solutions: treating addictions, providing mental health supports, creating job opportunities, and building affordable housing. The shelter system is not a permanent home for people down on their luck.

Hatred of Jews is not the Canada any of us want. All Canadians need to stand against this and hatred in all its forms.
This woman is slithering around Toronto, tearing down missing person posters for Esti, a 14-year-old autistic girl. Esti has been missing for nearly two weeks, and this sick individual is out here making it harder to find her. It doesn't matter if this person is targeting her because she’s Jewish or if she’s just a miserable individual, ripping down a poster for a missing child is pure evil. What kind of failed parents produces a monster like this? Look at her face. Look closely and help us identify this creature. While we hunt for her, keep your eyes peeled for Esti (third photo). If you actually want to physically help, get down to 345 Wilson Avenue and volunteer with Shomrim. They’ve been working day and night while people like this woman try to sabotage them. Help us find Esti and help us find the monster trying to keep her lost. The first two photos are of the deplorable hate filled woman, and the missing poster is of Esti.

Trudeau-era vagueposting slop. Not a single policy or idea articulated in this campaign launch. If this guy becomes OLP leader, Doug Ford will be Premier for 10 more years.
I’m running to restore the Ontario deal. Ontario used to lead. Let’s lead again. // Je me présente pour rétablir le pacte de l’Ontario. L’Ontario était autrefois leader. Reprenons les devants.

Mark Carney's cabinet is full of Trudeau-era ministers who remain hellbent on sabotaging Canada's economy and our future. Even in the face of soaring gas prices, inflation, and job losses. This is why Mark Carney has been all-talk, no action on major projects.
14 Liberal MPs write a letter critical of Carney. CBC gets it and writes this. "Despite signing their names at the bottom of the letter, the MPs do not want to be publicly identified," CBC writes. No names released. This would not happen to Poilievre. cbc.ca/news/politics/liberal…

Way to go Toronto. Close the DVP between Jarvis and the 401, and then have a marathon on Front so nobody can access Jarvis, and then do nothing to let map applications know roads are closed. Then have all the re-routes be an extra hour because no light timing changes or traffic control is added. Oh, and then close down major parts of Line 2 and surely, Metrolinx can’t coordinate with the city either and so, let’s reduce GO Rail. Because who needs to travel north, south, east or west on Mothers Day. Because of course, we cannot expect government agencies to coordinate with each other, as if solving coordination problems isn’t a key function of government. So a 1hr drive to visit my mom I planned for 1.5hr has become nearly 2.5hr. Pure dysfunction, yet no one to hold accountable. Ontarians frustrated with the indifference of our governments towards the inconveniences they cause us, I see you. You’re right to demand higher standards.
