Leeds Debt Advice Network. Debt Advisers in Leeds & surrounding area's, DWP, LA's, & creditors, coming together building relationships & working in partnership.
Today we were able to host @RachelReevesMP at the Money Buddy session in Pudsey, where we were able to talk about the issues we are seeing in our services. Thank you @Dickerbird for arranging it 👍
It was lovely to host a quick visit from the Chancellor of the Excequer Rachel Reeves at the Pudsey Money Buddy session today. It was good to talk about the issues we are facing. Thank you @RachelReevesMP for sparing the time from your busy schedule x

We are looking for a sponsor and a venue for the Annual Leeds Poverty and Debt Forum @LeedsDebtForum to be held on 21st or 28th November. Usually attended by up to 80 people. This years theme 'seeing the future'!
Can anyone give us any suggestions?
We have had some issues with m
Dm's that have not been coming through to us.
For links for the Debt Advice Network meetings for the rest of the year, please email:
Sylvia.simpson@egac.org
We will add you to the mailing list and send you the links.
Sorry about that!
We are aware there are rumours flying around that we are closing.
WE ARE CERTAINLY NOT CLOSING.
Unfortunately, we had to end a couple of outreach sessions in March, but we still remain in 30 sites across Leeds, with NO plans to close any of them.

We are very fortunate to have a good working relationship with Leeds City Council's Council Tax team who communicate with us and all the members in @DebtLeeds regularly 👍
This will be interesting. Some councils are behaving realty badly. Great to know that Councils like Leeds work with @LeedsMoneyBuddy and other advice agencies to avoid situations from getting worse.
Our next meeting is on Thursday 14th March 2024 at 2:00pm on Teams. We will discuss scams and frauds, crypto currency, faith debt, update from DWP, impact on debt advisers/Intermediaries following the abolishing of the DRO fee from 6th April 2024 and much more...
DM for a link!

Money Buddies is facing their biggest funding cliff to date. Funding is so important to help us keep going so that we can continue to help vulnerable people. If you can help us, please like and repost our post. We thank you in advance ❤️

Very true. We are a small charity providing free advice services. Like the people we help, we also live hand to mouth. Long-term sustainable funding is needed to keep helping those who need us most.
This is why free, independent regulated advice services, working with people on the ground, including face to face, are so important. So is funding. Funding is crucial to keep going. If services like @LeedsMoneyBuddy aren't there, people fall victim to those breaking the rules!

One thing we are very good at is being adaptable. This is one of our strengths. Financial empowerment is so important these days. Otherwise, we all end up in a depression. Funding is needed, and it is needed now...
This is what our team does every day. They firefight. Why? Despite our funding challenges, the demand for help keeps coming through the door. Where would people go without free advice services? @LeedsMoneyBuddy@hilarybennmp@RachelReevesMP

We have helped thousands out of poverty, deprivation, and isolation by providing free advice services to the public, with assisted help and thanks from @MartinSLewis
We will be sharing some of our impactful stats over the coming days, showing what we have done!
Get ready...
Without funding, free advice services can not continue!
There must be a better way to fund advice charities like ours so they are not living hand to mouth.
We help people facing poverty, deprivation, and isolation. Who will do this if charities like ours are not there?

'Mummy, I know we've no money, but does this mean that we can't be warm this weekend, or have any food'? What about Felix? 🐈
'Not on our watch little one, we will help your mummy and Felix 🐈 - no mousing today' ❤️
If 10 people gave us £1 it would buy a family some fuel for the day!
If 10 people gave us £5, it would also pay for their water for the month!
If 10 people gave us £10, it would buy a family food for the week, some fuel, and pay a bit towards their water!

That moment when a person puts a bottle of pills on the desk in front of you and says 'I'm going to take all them, and kill myself, but I've been sent to you to see if you can help because I'm being evicted.'
Not on our watch! We saved the home and the client. All is well ❤️
