A big new study looked at 34,000 elite performers found that:
Early success rarely predicts adult achievement.
Exceptional young performers peaked quickly but narrowly mastered one thing.
Exceptional adults reached their peak gradually. They engaged in broader, multidisciplinary practice early on.

In middle-school gym class, the βcool kidsβ never tried.
They jogged instead of sprinting, laughed off losses, acted like they didnβt care.
It wasnβt confidence. It was insecurity.
Trying hard meant risking failure, and thatβs what scared them.
A lot of adults are still playing that same game.

Before he was headed to his first Super Bowl, Saquon Barkley was a track and field standout at Whitehall HS in Pennsylvania.
He only competed in Track and Field during his senior year. Despite that, he ran a 10.90 100m, long jumped 22-2.5 and threw a shot put 46-2.5.

What annoys me most about the Andrews dialogue is that people ignore that the Bills were about to get the ball back with 90 seconds, needing just a FG to win.
Yes, Andrews drop basically ended the game, but it's very probable that the Bills just win it in regulation regardless

Shelby McEwen made the right decision to not just take a tie and have the jump off for gold vs silver. It's ridiculous that the rules even allow for two gold medals at the Olympics. Like every other competition, compete to win and live with the outcomes.
