This exchange is exhibit A for why I rarely bother arguing about this online anymore.

"When He saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd." Normalize telling people God loves them and wants to be their shepherd and give them rest.

Boaz purchased “all that was Elimelech’s, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, from the hand of Naomi.” He didn’t redeem all that land for the land’s sake. He redeemed it for “Ruth the Moabitess.” The purchase price included Orpah, too, only she had refused to come.

I’m still chewing through arguments for and against PSA, specifically the P, and I’m not sure which side I’ll end up on, but posts like this are textbook bulverism. “God, I thank You that I am not like other men…”

“Bulverism occurs when someone proceeds to explain why the opponent holds that view they believe is incorrect, typically by attacking their motives, psychology, background, identity, or circumstances, instead engaging with the argument’s actual merits.”

Even if I do reject PSA, that doesn’t mean I reject the sinner’s guilt or God’s justice or substitution. I’d have to reject hell to reject the first two, and I don’t need to reject the S to reject the P. I just won’t call Christ a curse or reject that he can freely forgive.

We're better than this. Don't be what you hate.
Calvinism is: a. The promotion of a false god (idolatry). b. A damnable heresy. c. The destination of Platonism's slippery slope. d. All of the above.

What it's like to dialogue with someone who's reading their systematic into the text: >The USAF claims they "shot down a UFO." <You shouldn't promote belief in aliens. >I didn't say they shot down an alien. <You should be more careful with your terms then. Words matter.

The Doctrines of "Grace" ⬇️ 🚩🚩🚩 "If a bank can demand payment for your debt without providing a means to pay it, God can, too."

This is why I keep saying that determinists have a gaping, relationship-sized hole in their theodicy. "God is like a bank" isn't exactly a flex, but between this and the commercial theory of the atonement, they seem to be embracing that depiction.

My issue isn’t with the term “common grace” itself so much as with the fact that it’s used to imply the existence of an uncommon grace.

Man does not exist without the grace of God. There is no Gospel in existence without the grace of God. There is no church without the grace of God. It's impossible to create a scenario in this world where man seeks God apart from His grace.

Good Shawn thread.

This is a perfect distraction. I just keep asking a very simple question if God determines our fate before birth. Won't answer. You ask me to state your view to see if you would accept my summary. You won't respond. You came onto my post. Defend yourself.

"That soteriology was created for the sole purpose of attacking my soteriology," typed the person who only posts about sports and that soteriology.

Theologians will invent complicated terminology when they need to make weak ideas sound intellectually robust. "Unimpeded unilateral all-sufficient special grace of no maximum strength" "Pre-ordained deterministically appointed lesser permission of stochastic freedom."
