I’m delighted to have been re-selected as Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for East Hampshire for the next General Election. East Hampshire is now one of the most marginal seats in the country and the campaigning begins immediately! @LibDemPress

Remember to vote for the brilliant Lizzie Marshall in the 21 August Alton Amery EHDC by-election. Lizzie, who teaches tomorrow’s healthcare professionals, will be a great councillor, listening to, supporting and fighting for the interests of local residents #VoteLibDem

A year ago today, @EHLibD came within a whisker of overturning a 20,000 Conservative majority in East Hampshire. I was honoured to be the @LibDems candidate that day, supported by a brilliant team of hard-working activists. What fabulous memories!

...thus making it all but impossible for the Conservatives to be the party of business at the next election She has made this commitment before we get any evidence of whether this deal helps the economy BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T CARE WHETHER OR NOT IT HELPS THE ECONOMY Massive error

Hampshire County Election RESULTS: No gains, no losses, no democracy. That’s thanks to the Conservatives getting the election cancelled and running away from voters. They have NO mandate from today. @hantsconnect

The last Conservative Government produced few positives. But the cross-party commitment to Net Zero by 2050 was a rare exception. Today’s announcement by @KemiBadenoch is a remarkable example of a party trashing one of the few parts of its legacy that voters actually support. 1/3

During the last election, my opponent, @DamianHinds , consistently pointed to the 2050 Net Zero target as proof that his party was committed to tackling dangerous climate change. This is what he said in the last government: (2/3)

So my question for @DamianHinds is: do you stand by your previous comments or will you join your leader in abandoning a commitment that earned the UK massive global respect for climate leadership? (3/3) @EHLD @AltonClimate @pippaheylings @postpfield

It’s disgraceful that the voters of Hampshire have been denied the opportunity to hold the Conservative County Council to account.
5 Feb 2025
The delay of so many local elections is a disgraceful stitch-up between Labour and the Conservatives. Where elections are still happening, the Liberal Democrats will campaign hard to build on last year’s historic election wins and give communities the strong voice they deserve.

County elections in Hampshire have only been postponed previously for national emergencies, such as World Wars. Doing so now - for administrative convenience - sets a dangerous precedent. @EHLibD

It means that important decisions on devolution and local government reform will be taken by councillors originally elected in 2021, i.e. well after their original mandate has expired. We call on ministers to reject this request. @EHLibD

Powerful speech by @CllrKeithHouse at the Extraordinary Meeting of Hampshire County Council this morning. Lib Dems in Hants are open to greater devolution, sceptical about local govt. reform proposals, and against postponing scheduled elections in May for a year. @EHLibD

Sadly Tory councillors, supported by Labour, have just voted to request a year-long postponement of elections. As so many of them would have lost their seats in May, I guess that is no surprise. @CllrKeithHouse

Hopefully @AngelaRayner @JimfromOldham @SharonStevenage will recognise there is no consensus for delaying elections in Hampshire and therefore deny the request to postpone. The last thing voters want is a Tory/Lab stitch-up to deny them their democratic rights. @CllrKeithHouse
