Over 27 million people across #SouthernAfrica are food insecure as a devastating #drought sweeps through the region. @WFP_SAfrica is scaling up to help those most in need, but a massive funding shortfall may jeopardise our ability to respond at scale. 🎦@PhiriTomson explains⤵️

Conflict, climate change and skyrocketing food prices have left 32 million Nigerians food insecure. In northeast Nigeria, I’ve seen first-hand the immense needs, and incredible work the @WFP is doing.

School meals are such an important part of the work that WFP does. On this #InternationalDayoftheGirlChild it’s particularly meaningful to see the difference that a school meal makes to a student like Grace.
Grace is a student in South Sudan. She's passionate about learning and looks forward to school every day. ✏️🎒📚 WFP School Meals 🍚 help keep her full and focused so she can reach for the 💫 and achieve her dream .

👏 Great work on the mid-course review! Proud of our progress and the recommendations guiding our next steps. Let’s continue prioritising people-centred approaches & strengthen our commitment to protection and accountability. Together, we can make a lasting impact.
We recently completed a mid-course review of @WFP’s #Protection and #Accountability Policy. It shows great progress implementing the policy’s 5 pillars & fostering a cultural shift towards protection & accountability. It also generated useful recommendations to guide next steps.

I received school meals throughout my school years in Sudan, so I can vouch for the impact they have. I wouldn’t be here today if I hadn’t finished school, and those meals were a key part of that. School feeding is more than nutrition–it helps ensure children stay in school.
As students head back to class, in #Somalia, over 3 million children are out of school. School meals are not only key nutrition, but also an open door to education. Your support can help them stay healthy while learning. Help us spread the word. 🔄#BackToSchool

A great development as @WFP_Ecuador signs an agreement with the Govt of Ecuador to pilot a school meals project in 14 educational units. Not only will this provide better outcomes for children, but also better outcomes for local farmers.

A staggering figure to see. @WFP works closely with @Refugees to provide people with life-saving assistance when they flee, and a pathway to a self-reliant future.
1 in every 69 people on earth is displaced. WFP food assistance is a lifeline for refugee families around the world. But as we approach #WorldRefugeeDay, millions of refugees are looking to a future of uncertainty and hunger as they struggle to put food on their tables.
