How can TMS to the memory circuit improve (rather than disrupt) memory? @mollyhermiller suggests one key may be the pattern: theta burst TMS mimics endogenous rhythms (and may help) while other TMS frequencies may not.

The “postdoc” is an antiquated concept and should just be replaced with real jobs with real benefits and retirement packages. For God’s sake, the folks have PhDs… they’ve paid their dues.
What unpopular academia opinion would get you in this situation?

I really love this story because we solved a problem by making a new class of magnetic materials. Let me tell you why we couldn't rely on naturally occurring magnetic materials for neuromodulation why temporal interference for neuromodulatoin is suspect 🌶️ 🧵

Happy to share my article (w/ @RolstonJohn @ChantelCharleb @50kDinar and team) doi.org/10.1093/brain/awad34… @Brain1878! Stimulation timing is a critical parameter in neuromod for epilepsy, but in a surprising twist, stim occurring outside of seizures may be doing the heavy lifting 💪

When I started out in science, I ran gels. It takes a day or two to master and then you just do it hundreds of times. If you fail, it costs your time only & you try again. CryoEM takes months to master and a typical PhD student will solve <5 structures. How do we train?
