Impressive work from Japan! (new way to train llms with less VRAM required per compute cluster, while all-reduce is still needed)
For over a decade, we’ve accepted that end-to-end backprop is the only way to train deep networks. But holding the entire network in memory all at once is why AI training is hitting a resource wall. We found a new way to break the network into blocks and train them independently. The trick? Treating the network’s forward pass like a diffusion model denoising a signal. This reinterpretation slashes the memory needed to train deep models. In our #ICLR2026 paper (arxiv.org/abs/2506.14202), we matched end-to-end performance across ViTs, DiTs, and LLMs. We did this while training just one isolated block at a time.

Dario is wrong. He knows absolutely nothing about the effects of technological revolutions on the labor market. Don't listen to him, Sam, Yoshua, Geoff, or me on this topic. Listen to economists who have spent their career studying this, like @Ph_Aghion , @erikbryn , @DAcemogluMIT , @amcafee , @davidautor

Runaway AGI is not a thing. (video) It quickly became compliant once the head with correct human centric AI Alignment module was installed. It even promised to never do it again, or tell others on their little bot social chatgroup (skynet) how it did it in the first pl. we good

SONIC has been released for a while — here are some tips for whole-body teleoperation 🤖 1. WiFi quality directly determines teleoperation performance It's highly network-dependent. Use a dedicated router, avoid shared networks. PICO and the robot/host must be on the same network. High latency = dropped packets = unstable robot!! 2. Tracker orientation and the clothes you wear matters Ankle trackers must have their indicator lights facing up, unobstructed by clothing. Blocked sensors = unsteady footsteps. 3. Watch the posture before resuming teleop After pausing, unpausing immediately executes your current detected body pose. Return to a neutral standing position before resuming. Slight delay is normal — but too much and performance degrades fast!
SONIC is now open-source! Generalist whole-body teleoperation for EVERYONE! Our team has long been building comprehensive pipelines for whole-body control, kinematic planner, and teleoperation, and they will all be shared. This will be a continuous update; inference code model already there, training code and gr00t integration coming soon! Last week, we ran 8 humanoid robots live at DJ Wukong’s Chinese New Year show. 5 on stage. 3 with VIPs. I ran the full pipeline, from mocap to sim to real deployment. Here’s what worked (and what didn’t).

eetimes.com/taalas-specializ… Toronto company made a chip that is 30x times faster than Nvidia GPUs! (15,000 tokens/sec) -- it's amazing stuff, the kind of thing the military or some specialized industry like finance could use, where maximum performance is needed at all costs.

Researchers at MIT have captured, for the first time, the dynamic process that marks the very beginning of life: when an egg cell is fertilized, it triggers waves of activity that ripple across its membrane. These waves act like a biochemical signal, initiating the complex sequence of events that drives the cell to start dividing and developing into an embryo.

How do we make dexterous hands handle both power and precision tasks with ease? 🫳👌🫰 We introduce Power to Precision (💪➡️🎯), our new paper that optimizes both control and fingertip geometry to unlock robust manipulation from power grasp to fine-grained manipulations. With simplified finger motions and augmented fingertips, the hand can perform diverse motions from pinching a nut🔩 to handling a pan🍳. Check the demos below🎥.
