Redefining obesity
A new report of @TheLancetEndo commission that overrides current BMI categories and better defines features and pathophysiologic consequences of pre-clinical and clinical obesity

(such as an athlete with no fat excess is not obese, but is according to current BMI based definition)
One reason you believe people are “crazy” for taking COVID precautions is because you don’t know how sick people are treated by society and the medical system. You think nothing bad will happen to you and you’ll be taken care of by medical professionals but you’re mistaken.
Just because an illness is chronic and/or won’t kill you - doesn’t meant it won’t ruin your quality of life.
Many chronic illnesses score lower on quality of life scales than terminal cancer & other end stage diseases - but they’re treated as though they’re “no big deal.” /1
It took me SEVEN years to figure out that you can save a ggplot as a vectorized .svg file ggsave("file.svg"). The svg file can be opened on powerpoint and it will be completely vectorized, even text are still recognized as text boxes! No more recreating plots on illustrator!!!!!
Can’t help but think of the gravity of Arundhati Roy’s words lately: “There's really no such thing as the 'voiceless'. There are only the deliberately silenced, or the preferably unheard.”
"It's a beautiful thing to have lungs that allow you to breathe air and legs that allow you to climb mountains, and it's a shame that sometimes we don't realize that that's enough."
A friendly reminder to never take your cup-filling hobbies for granted. 🌤️

Our society would be so different if folks deeply understood how temporary their current privilege and comfortable existence truly is. You're housed today. You're abled-bodied today. You're not marginalized today. Privilege shields today, but empathy protects tomorrow.
So pleased that our new paper on multigenerational adversity, gut microbiome, and socioemotional functioning in early childhood has just come out in @PNASNewspnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.22… 1/6
“Everyone is welcome” is drastically different from “we built this with you in mind.”
People don't want to go where they are merely tolerated, they want to go where they are included.
