🚨 The DSM is getting a major overhaul
A new APA subcommittee just proposed a radical 4-domain diagnostic model that finally integrates biomarkers, transdiagnostic features, and social determinants into our standard nosology.

This is a map of repetition among all symptoms in the DSM-5.
The majority of symptoms are found across disorders, yet we treat them as separate entities.
It's an excellent and pithy article.
Strange, though, to see it under the "What's New in Intensive Care" section.
The struggle to forge (and, crucially, get people to use) a unified terminology goes back a good many years.
