This evening, I joined leaders, development partners, innovators, and stakeholders in the energy sector at the 4th Women in Green Hydrogen Dinner, convened under the theme “Powering the Future: Women Leading Africa’s Green Hydrogen Transformation.”
The forum highlighted the urgent need for an inclusive transition towards sustainability and low-carbon development, while reaffirming that women and the young people must remain at the centre of building resilient communities and equitable green economies across Africa.
The engagement also offered an opportunity to reflect on the progress being made through mentorship, partnerships, and skills development initiatives aimed at empowering women across the technical, financial, regulatory, and entrepreneurial dimensions of the green hydrogen value chain.
I commend Women in Green Hydrogen (WiGH) Kenya and its partners for championing inclusive participation in the green energy transition and for creating platforms that inspire collaboration, innovation, and leadership among women in this transformative sector.
I was accompanied by Dr. Eng. Isaac Kiva, Secretary for Renewable Energy representing the Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum; Juliane Kabus of the German Embassy; Hanna Salian, Programme Director for Energy, Transport and Climate Change; Adnan Alam of the Global Green Growth Institute; Joy Nzuve, Board Member and Africa Global Co-Lead; and Edna Mitevu, Regional Lead for East Africa at Women in Green Hydrogen, among other distinguished participants.
