The only reason the health system hasn’t completely collapsed is because of the professionalism & sacrifices of health workers who are continuing to work even while short staffed. Even during #OnStorm, health workers are holding the health system together. Not the government.

Let’s be clear, all the restrictions in Canada are because of how underbuilt, understaffed and mismanaged the healthcare system has been for decades. Imagine if all the money used to support our unfairly closed businesses went to fixing that instead?

Here's a real-life example of the #BaseRateFallacy. On 1st glance, there's vax'd than unvax'd with severe disease. But the rate is actually 6x higher in the unvax'd population. #COVID19 #GetVaxxed #Datavisualization #VaccinesSaveLives #vaccine #dataviz

I can confirm that the Ontario government still has not removed incidental hospitalization numbers from its COVID data. “We started the data collection from hospitals and public reporting will start in the near future,” the Ministry of Health told me today.

So many small businesses including restaurants, dance schools, gyms, and others are awaiting news on whether they will be closed tomorrow. Could there be any more anxiety for business owners? @cfib @MacLeodLisa @fordnation #COVID19Ontario

May we all ring in 2022 with an even mix of reason and accountability.

Good news and I should say, a warning. Hospital cases need to be counted properly and not be inflated in order to push for more restrictions.
We need to focus on the severity of #Omicron cases & not just case counts. The hospital capacity at #Brampton Civic is strong. We are down to only 2 in ICU and only 20 in the hospital with #COVID19. There is reason for cautious optimism and hopefully better days ahead in 2022!

We are currently seeing more daily cases in Ontario than last year at this time - with less ICU utilization. We don’t claim, “COVID these days is more mild.” We claim that vaccines work. They are our ticket to protecting health care capacity in our Province.

This is from a new report produced by the Public Health Agency of Canada finding that, so far, omicron is significantly milder than previous versions of COVID-19.

Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health: *literally no one in ICU because of the Omicron variant* Time for him to roll back this week's restrictions, and to immediately advise the end of his failed vaccine passport policy.
