I am just leaving the scene on Barracks Row & tonight’s massive fire. I’ve spoken with several of the businesses. Everyone is accounted for but extreme damage to multiple buildings. Amazing work by DC fire fighters to stop even worse spread. They’ll be here a good while longer.

D.C. Man Sentenced for Setting Fire to Apartment Building Where His Own Family Lived Ronnie Bookhardt, age 64, has been sentenced to nearly 5 years in prison after prosecutors say he set fire to an apartment building where his own family members lived. Authorities say surveillance video captured Bookhardt pouring lighter fluid and igniting a fire inside a Southeast D.C. apartment building in October 2022. The blaze triggered sprinklers, causing more than $200,000 in damage. Today, a judge sentenced him to 57 months behind bars, followed by three years of supervised release.
