How do we influence others? Recent research shows that the approach most commonly used by leaders is "selling" - getting others to agree by showing them your idea is the best/most beneficial. However, influencing by "selling" produces suboptimal compromises. Leaders who adopt a more collaborative influence approach (enlisting the support/cooperation of others, without relying on formal authority, to achieve individual or common goals, especially in the face of conflicting priorities/perspectives) get better outcomes from decisions. sloanreview.mit.edu/article/…. Decades of research into successful large scale change shows that it’s not about getting people in organisations to follow their leaders to the future - it’s about getting people to co-create the future. However, a change approach that seeks to engage everyone in the organisation may demand a new level of collaboration that leaders & managers aren't accustomed to and haven't been prepared for in a larger culture that has emphasised hierarchy & silos. This article from @mitsmr describes an organisational development approach to build "strength based teams", creating the fuel for genuine engagement and inclusion & the conditions for continuous innovation & improvement: sloanreview.mit.edu/article/….

30% of people who are offline feel that the #NHS is one of the most difficult organisations to interact with. Digital options can do a lot t support the NHS but do not fit everyone and exclude the most vulnerable even further What are you doing to ensure inclusion of all? #FPOP24

We are reminded, by Amanda Thompsell of the essential need for data to be stratified by age. If we don't both request and provide data on age in relation to healthcare, how can we know if older people really are getting equal access to what they need? #FPOP24
